Just saw my first beaver
« on: May 04, 2012, 08:29:03 PM »
Get your heads out of the gutter.

Driving home with my son from setting up a trail cam and driving by a marshy area and a big beaver watched us drive by and then slipped into the pond.  Pretty cool.  I'd say it was 70lbs but that was eyeballing it vs. my dog once I got home so that probably isn't accurate.  If you have a trapping license and want the info, PM me.

O yes, I remember the first time I saw one. Beautiful big brown beaver. Named her Winona and dam I loved that beaver, feed her almost every night. Eventually that beaver just got too big and I had to find a new one to feed.  :chuckle: Sorry couldn't help myself.

First time I ever saw one I was so exited that I just had to squeeze a shot off but I didn't dare shoot at it knowing that could lead to a life of regret.

The very 1st beaver I harvested I shot it up multiple times!  Glad no regrets came from it and it was a very beautiful beaver to.

Used to see them road killed all the time up in Northern Wisconsin.  Kind of funny when you tell people you seen  a road killed beaver.

This thread sucked me in too....

I had a lot of experiences with beavers at dusk and after dark. It was years before I actually saw one in the daylight.  They are a beautiful thing to see.

I work with a licensed commerical trapper.  She asked "Hey do you want to see pictures of my 40 lb. blonde beaver?"  I said "uh sure just not at work"  She gets some pretty big ones 30-45 lb range.
