When they come they come for sure.  We used 1000lbs of bait at our two stations in AK each year.  IT would be cleaned out 100%, even the dirt would be milled by the bears scouring every drop.  Good luck, it seems they are on and ready for the taking here real soon...

Holy crow batman! To bad you aren't hunting black birds :chuckle:. Looks like it's going to be a good hunt Machias. I can't wait to hear more about this hunt. I'm going to start a bait over there next year. I've been waiting for my son to get a little older so he can tag along. Good luck.

Jsut a thought.  You might want to check the reg's in Idaho.  I am not sure that you can use beaver parts for bait!

You can, I verified it.  But thanks for looking out for me.

Had a new visitor today, kind of suprised me.  I also hauled in 100 pounds of bait and gear.  3/4 of a mile uphill, kicked my tail.  Check out my new bait container.  :):)

This guy showed up again, can you see him?

I didn't go check the bait last night, but ran out there tonight.  Got some really cool photos.  As soon as I got to the site I knew I had some action as the lid was peeled back and all bent to heck.

So, the plan was to hike in today, check the camera and see if it was still small bears and or sows with cubs hitting the bait.  If it was I was going to pull the hog feeder and clean up the bait site and move to another bait site near Avery, ID.  It would be a 130 mile one way trip, but I figure I can visit the site every third day without breaking the bank with my gas bill.  So I pull the cart all the way in and wow, the hog feeder is literally torn at the corner and the lid was pretty much ripped off.  Looked at the card and right off, I see a nice bear hitting the bait.  I stash the cart and hoof it back to the truck which is just shy of a mile away.  I pack in 50 pounds of sweet COB and refresh the bait and head out.  Got some outstanding action going on.  A much nicer bear, a small chocolate bear, a small really well furred red cinnimom bear and a sow with a really small cub.  Looks like the bigger bear is showing up around 8pm, still plenty of light.  I'll be waiting for him tomorrow night and Monday night.  I had about 40 photos of bears.  Check out the sow going up to bring the young one down.  I think a bigger bear may have been near by because she was going back and forth between the tree the cub was in and the tree the camera was in.
