2000 miles, 2000 pictures...
« on: August 04, 2008, 09:27:52 PM »
I took a 4 day road trip for some velvet shots and just got back tonight.  Ended up with 2157 pictues...about 26 gigs worth of raw shots.  A lot for me, but I ended up having a lot of subjects on this trip.  Got good shots of mulies, whitetails, bison, bear, elk, pronghorn, etc.  I'm a little tired, but here are a few.  Wish I could enter that velvet contest...

This ram was incredible.  I'll call him Roman because his nose is broke.  From a side view it is a huge roman nose.  A real fighter here.  The flies were bothering him bad.

Fixed!  :)

Gas cost me a lot of money...  I had Tony as a sidekick on this one and once again he outshot me with good photos.  Good to see you are around Elkman.  We need your photos around here.  What glass we talking about here Elkman?  VR?  My buddy was using the 200-400 f4 and the 500 f4.  His favorite seems to be the 200-400.  It's really the perfect wildlife lens if you like black colored lenses...

Here is another one of some more velvet...lots of velvet.  Got this one at 7AM this morning just as the sun peaked over the mountains.  Elk experts, what does that middle elk score?  (it's got to be somewhere between 350 and 400, but I have no clue.  I can tell you he looks bigger in all the other angles.  His fronts are weak)

Actually I'll correct myself as looking through the other photos the fronts look big.  It's the main beam that is a tad short and he isn't terribly wide.

You are correct sir :). 200-400 f4 VR
Still trying to decide on the D3 or D300 for the new body. Leaning really hard towards the D3 for the low light / low noise ability, and of course the 35mm censor size.

Need to post up some, just been very busy. was at the MotoGP races in Laguna Seca 2 weeks ago and shot over 4000 pics, then my 80-200 2.8 decide to break on me. almost had it fixed till it fell off the table on to the floor. :bash: :bash:

By the way, Love the Ram shot
