Elkman, I would definitely go for the D300.  The crop sensor really buys you that added magnification.  The 200-400 on a D3 would be too short.  I never needed more than iso 800 this weekend for wildlife.  You like doing landscapes though, so the D3 is perfect for that and general shooting.  I don't know.

Maybe I'll have some time tonight to post another one...

I think he is shooting the Bison range gramps.
They do tend to get a little fiesty if you start shooting those critters I suppose.  :chuckle:   Looking forward to the next shot.

Yeah, some of my photos are from Yellowstone.  I'm going to try and make a big Yellowstone trip in Sept...  I try and stay away from the typical bulls and meadows that the hordes of other photographers are on.  Here is one that was miles from the road.

I can't express how jealous I'm. Looks like a great trip. I will do it someday with my family. My girls are only 1 and 2.5 a little young for that long of a car ride. keep the photos coming.  :cmp1:
