Question: Barnes 7mm 110/120 gr TTSX Bullets

Really? Thanks, I might have to order some. I've used the 140's in my 270 but I want to try the 130's.

I am going to try some of their new LRX in the .284 145 gr too.

I think the 120 gr Barnes would be fine in the .280 Rem.   My reloading manual doesn't list the TSX or TTSX but it has the older style bullet.  I would think that the length of the 120gr Barnes would be similar to a cup and core bullet of 140 gr variety.........so it should shoot fine out of the rifle.

Did you read what WSMnut said about the 110's in his .270?

I would use the 110 if I were looking for a deer bullet and/or a low recoil load. But I want something that will be good for elk and that's why I want the 130. Not that I don't think the 110 would kill an elk, I just think the 130 would do it better. A deer surely wouldn't even come close to stopping a 110 out of a 270.

I already have the 140 gr shooting good, I think I'll try to work up a load with the 110 that will shoot well with the same sighting as the 140.

I have done this with several other guns. Usually the lighter bullet shoots an inch or so higher at 100 yds, that's no big deal shooting deer at 50 to 200 yds the distance that's comfortable for most people. I guess I will know after I try working up to the load.

Agreed...being all copper, they're long-for-weight.
I think the 120 and 7mm-08 would be an amazing combo.
No experience other than great groups on paper using H414.

I shoot a 120ttsx out of my 284win,blew a hole through deerneck at 10 yrds last yr.

we use 140gr TTSX in our 7mags, got them going 3400, shoots like a lazer and kills them dead.
