May 12th, 2012. Beaverton, OR.  Zen-Ray Optics, an industry-leading innovator for high performance sports optics, has been awarded with the prestigious Outdoor Life Editor’s Choice Award. The new ZEN ED2 20-60x82 spotting scope receives this recognition for its outstanding optics performance and exceptional value.

Each winter the Outdoor Life optics test team gathers to evaluate the newest rifles, shotguns and hunting optics for its annual gear test. The Optics Test includes four categories: riflescopes, full-size binoculars, mid-size binoculars and spotting scopes. Each optic is rated based on optical quality, mechanical precision, low-light performance and through a subjective evaluation. Within each category, the optic with the highest cumulative scores earns the Editor’s Choice award, and the top price/value scoring optic gets the Great Buy award. As a result of the 2012 Optics Test, Zen-Ray Optics received Editor’s Choice awards for the Zen ED2 20-60x82 spotting scope.

The ZEN ED2 spotting scope features doublet extra low dispersion glass (ED) to eliminate optical impurity due to color fringing.  The scope is housed in shock proof Magnesium alloy chassis, which is o-ring sealed to provide 100% waterproof and fogproof.  With its dual speed focus wheel feature, ZEN ED2 provides an excellent balance for fast image acquisition and precision control.  The front objective lens is further protected by scratch resistant hydrophobic coating to provide all weather application of the scope.
