a cheap but awesome shotgun mod/ cheap and easy project
« on: May 17, 2012, 07:10:45 PM »
saw this tip in a mag a few months ago, finally got around to trying it out. basically, its a cheap and affordable way to put weight into the fore-end of your shotgun. the added weight in front helps with recovery, and reduces muzzle jump, but, according to the directions of this project, it will also help reduce recoil.

this lil mod i saw involves a 3/4inch diameter piece of pvc pipe (for a 12gauge) that is the length of your guns plug, a roll of electrical tape, and about 10-12 #7 shotgun shells depending on the length of your plug.

first measure the length of your plug

then go to the hardware store and have a piece of white pvc cut to the length of your plug. most hardware stores sell it by the foot, but in my case, i spent .22 CENTS for a "foot" of pvc. by "foot" i mean, a piece the length of my plug

next get yer gun

then, take off the barrel, and start opening shot shells (the smaller the shot the better)

cap off one end of the PVC pipe with electrical tape, and then stuff the pipe into the magazine where the plug would normally go, leave 3 or 4 inches of pipe stickin out of the magazine

fill the pipe with the shot extracted from the shells

tape off the end of the pvc pipe, then shove it down the magazine

put your barrel and cap back on

pick up gun, and notice the wonders of added weight in the fore-end

i did this just the other day with my benelli nova, and ive already noticed an improvement in my gun handling and how i lead a target.

extra weight in front helps a ton

i think it cost me less than 6$ for this mod and i say its deffinatley worth trying if you want to better your shotgunsmanship (i think i just made up a word)

Erik...OUT
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

I smoke two fish in the morning, I smoke two fish at night, I smoke two fish in de afternoon makes me feel alright

I think I would rather pour some reclaimed shot in there, may help with the bottom line. :chuckle:
