Bear took my camera
« on: May 18, 2012, 09:39:27 PM »
I had two trail cameras out in areas where the bears were peeling the trees really bad.  I found a path they were using, so I set up two cameras.  I was not using bait of any sort, but when I came back to check the cameras this evenning they were both gone.  I thought someone swiped them.  Finally found one about 50 yards down the path.  Didn't find the other one.  The bear had chewed on it and broke out the lense.  I have teeth marks in the camera now.  Time for a bear box I guess.  How frequently does this happen to you.  I would imagine many of the reports of stolen cameras are probably in bear dens or out in the forest as play toys.

That sucks! So the one you found is still working? Dang bears must be really hungry right now.

The only camera I've had stolen was in January so I'm pretty sure it wasn't a bear.

Sorry to hear about the cameras, I have bear boxes for all my cameras, well worth the investment.

I have had that happen to three of my cameras. I have just chalked it up to bears like plastic. One of my bushnells that got chewed up I had to super glue all the holes.

You're looking at this all wrong! This just means that your camera placement was ideal! :chuckle:

Sorry to hear about the camera though. They make awfully expensive bear bait!

Yup, bears sure are curious. I've had it happen as well. Always makes for some cool pics though! Better destroyed by a bear than stolen by a person. :twocents:

Well I hope you stick one!

yeah at least if you catch the bear in the act instead of a thief you won't be headed to the slammer for serving your own justice
