How to eliminate trail cam odor?
«

I opened up my trail cam and it has a noticable oder from the batteries. Is their a way to eliminate that to keep critters from dialing in on them. Or is that what most guys like to see and end up placing them in bear boxes?

Ive never heard of animals shying away from trail cams b/c they smell like batteries. You could probably spray it down with some of that scent eliminator stuff, probably a waste of time and $ though. Just stick it in the woods!

What i would do is use some sent eliminator spray and then wipe the sensor and camera lens clean.
use a pair of latex glove while your at it.
If it were me i'd also use a bear box...

I'd probably avoid whiping peanut butter all over it with your grubby hands..........

I have noticed the electronic odor as well. The deer don't seem to care but elk and bears will.investigate in my experience. Doesn't seem to scare them off though.

The critters I've seen never seem to really care. Yotes, bears, deer.....if anything they are curious. Mine is in a box so they will just sniff and carry on.
