Beagle pups?
« on: August 10, 2011, 10:57:56 AM »
Anybody know of any field bred beagle pups or breeders out there! My last two dogs came out of a breeder called thunder mountain beagles  towards chehalis. Both were awesome dogs. Lost them both, one to an elk bowhunter up cook canyon and the other to a predator in my back forty.

Any help wood be great!

Stupid question on my part but what about the breeder you have already bought from?  How are those dogs in the house by the way? Hair, energy and manners?

sorry to hear about your bad luck with your last two beagles
Wish I could help you out but I don't really know of any breeders that have Field trial dogs
if you cant find some look over in the Seattle area as I know they have a beagle rescue over there  the best beagle I ever had as far as hunting came from a breeder that only had the dogs for pets. Unless your looking to do field trials I think most any beagle would do for a rabbit dog. you just cant seem to find one that doesn't like to track  :twocents:

Hello,

I also bought a beagle pup from a field beagle breeder in Toledo, WA, and I am looing for this breeder. The names of the breeder couple were Cliff and Margaret Hall, and I think their ranch was Thunder Mountain, but I am not exactly sure. I bought my beagle from them when I was 12 years old, and now the same beagle I bought is almost 13 years and still kicking! She is an amazing dog, beautiful personality, very quiet and sweet, and she's been a good family dog (she never been hunting, although she tries to get away to hunt when she is off-leash). I am looking for the breeders and I want to touch base and let them know that their dogs are awesome, and as my beagle ages, I would definitely consider buying another pup from them in the future.
Again, their names are Cliff and Margaret Hall of Thunder Mountain Ranch (I think) in Toledo, WA. If anyone knows any information, please respond.

They're awesome house pets. My beagle as a kid was a hunting dog and was a beast on rabbits when I still had time for falconry. After his death about 3yrs ago I ended up with another beagle puppy from a Craigslist ad. He's never hunted and sometimes I'll watch him walk over a trail I just saw a squirrel walk and not react so I have some worries about his nose. Once he sees them it's game on though.

Indoors both of them slept more than most dogs and love to cuddle with people. They'll play and run around the house at the drop of a hat if you want to play. With my old beagle as soon as he'd hear the words hunting, rabbit or the sound of the hawk's bells he'd be up and ready in a second. They're good with other dogs and cats as well.
