PathfinderJR and I went up to Colville and gave it a good try this year.  Saw 4 bear, but couldn't get a shot at any.  Maybe next year... :dunno:

My oldest son shot our 1st bear this year on the last day of general buck near our cabin in Winthrop. Really nice cinnamon bear skull measured 20 1/8".

Did you post a story and photos on here? I would love to see them if you did! Sounds like a true giant. Did you have it scored for the books? it will go way up there.

Got one last year.... Only @ 135 lbs.... Didn't really want to shoot it but pretty much had to.... Damn thing wouldn't quit following me.... Got within 15 feet of me when I shot.... And I was just trying to help a buddy get a BT during the last few days of modern deer.... I went down ridge to glass another cut.. Told my buddy if I had the balls I would've lead it right to him.... (he's never got one) But that was another 1/2 mile away and he'd already followed me @ 1/4 mile and bluffed charged twice..... I walked backwards half of it and fell once... Kept popping his jaw as well.... Never seen that before... They always run off when they see or smell me.... It was really weird.... Gonna give my buddy the rug when it gets done for his bday so he can tell the story of his 2011 unfilled deer tag.... Hope he likes it.....  Sorry Dave!!!!   :chuckle:

Some bears just have a over aggressive personality. 95% of them would rather turn and run at the slightest whiff of a person let alone seeing one. Then there are the ones that can and will hurt you. Some can be very bold and come after a guy. That bear was a good one to shoot after he messed with you that much. I would have punched a tag on him as well in fear that someone without a gun might be his next target to mess with.
