So would all you guys be happy if the dates were set at the 8th-21st each year, regardless which day of the week it started and ended on?

Yep

I'll go out of state and hunt the whole month of september.

This state hasn't managed their resource for years, they only manage hunters and anyone that doesn't recognize this is out of touch with WDFW's management practices. At one time Dave Ware told me archers would never hunt the last two weeks of september and then the season changed to september 8-21 to accomodate labor day campers. I almost laughed when I saw the season date change especially after what mr. Ware had stated to me.  I believe Mr. Ware's "scientific" opinion on utilizing harvest stats to adjust season dates is b/s and only based on the calendar and labor day.

September 8-21 are the best dates we have had but sept 1-30 are better!

I would agree that the hole month of September would be excellent to hunt. I would change from hunting the first week of archery to the last week if it were the hole month of September and into the rut!!

If there were still two weekends every year, than yes. Otherwise, no.

So how about they make is where there is always two weekends in the season and they just change the start date to accommodate that and leave the end date the 21st...

I'd be for that, but i doubt the DFW would. It would mean more hunting days in some years and they've taken some of those away because of harvest statistics.

Pianoman... that could result in a 9 day season every few years.  Nuts!  Sept 8 to the 21st fixed.

cant agree more, alot of WA's money is going out of state because of there money managing skills.it would be ineresting to know how much more money they could make if they made this state more apealing for those peaple going out of state to hunt

I'm with you, I wish they'd push it back! I live in Spokane and I  over idaho's seasons.  I just can't afford the out of state tag. Last year I hunted for a week in my typical spot in the N.E corner and didn't hear a bugle after a week of hunting! That's a first in 5 years of hunting there.  My trail cams were hitting the elk at 1 am. But with it reaching high 80's to 90's I don't blame the elk for being nocturnal, just wdfw for giving us such early archery seasons!

There is no way that the WDFW allocation committee is going to give archers a whole month to hunt. That would force them to redo the allocations for all the other user groups. As for what Montana and Idaho do, they have more animals and less people than Washington does. It is impossible to reasonably compare the three states because of that. The allocation committee tries to make things fair for everyone, and all the user groups think that their chosen way of hunting should have better dates and more time. This debate could go on forever and never change WDFW's minds, they worry more about money than what hunters think about seasons.  :twocents:
