Washington newby needing some HELP
« on: May 24, 2012, 12:21:10 PM »
   Hey Guys,
I am an avid bowhunter and sportsman, I grew up hunting whitetails in GA and all throughout the southeast. My dream is to kill an elk with my bow and has been ever since I can remember. I am in the Air Force and live in Tenino, WA. Just looking for any sort of tips on where to go and where the public land around here is. I know there is land on post but it doesnt seem to hold many elk. The laws and regs are def. something else up here, so when I finally do find out where some public land is what all will I have to do, is it sign in or basically pull off the side of the road and head in? Any info would be be great. Thanks guys.

"and live in Tenino"

Depending on exactly where your place is, you're only 8 miles away from elk country.

Codi, most of our privately owned timberlands in this state are also open to you for hunting. Many of them gate the land but allow entry on foot, so you are not only limited to state lands.

Welcome to the state, thanks for your service. Good luck sticking your elk.

This contains excellent maps and should lead you to some really good areas for elk not far from your location !!
