Crawdads on the East Side?
« on: May 29, 2012, 10:24:35 AM »
Does anyone do any good for Crawdads in any lakes around Spokane? I know there are monsters in the Spokane River and Long Lake but i would actually like to be able to eat them. :chuckle: We fish alot of the local lakes and was just wondering if it would be worth while to throw out a few traps while fishing. Thanks.

I think regardless where you go for them you'll want to do an overnight soak. Not a whole lot of moving around during when you will be fishing. However..........walking the shorline and turning over rocks and logs and such could maybe get some good results.

I was thinking even more so when we go night fishing. Anyone ever have any luck at like Loon or Waitts up North? What about like Williams by Cheney?

Is there a season or regulations when it comes to crawdad getting? I put my pot in the little naches this weekend and only caught one, I think my pot has too big of openings and most the dad's just crawl back out. It is a crawdad pot, I just need to do some refining. We see lots in that river but most look pretty small.

Yep....both. Double up on checking the regs....they can and will ticket you for infractions.

I will check, I've never even thought about it before with crawdad's. I would hope it's open during fishing season, that's the only time I've gotten them.

I was at Waitts lake over the weekend, and set a trap out overnight. Zero, zip, nadda. I did pretty well on the snake river last year though.

We tried Waitts last year and nothing but a little cat. Only let it soak for a couple hours though. I am sure the Big Browns have something to with a lack of crawdads.
