Observatory Bull for me and my old man.... Cool thing is we did not put in on the same ticket and both had it for our second choice!!... Not sure what the chances of that are, but thinking we should take a trip to vegas!!

15 points for every tag you can put in for and still nothing. Nice f ing system

Would you mind posting the hunts you applied for? I'm betting you only applied for the most difficult to draw permits? If so, that's why you didn't draw. 15 points doesn't guarantee anything. Next year apply for permits that have better odds of drawing.

Got a alta second deer tag. Better than nothing

The more people that put in for those practically impossible to draw permits, the better the odds are going to be for you to draw those other permits since they aren't applying for them.  :twocents:

I give you example, all the OIL tags are hard but Muzzle Mudflow and Toutle for Quality Elk, Both Margaret for Bull, and Desert and Quilomene for deer. I understand that they are a little harder to draw but 15 years is b.s. in this state. This cost me over $800 for me and my son for license, tags and permit fee's. I don't whine but our sytem is f'ed up. Guys that have alot of points are usually the guys that hunt hard and put in for permits every year, thus giving the state revenue every year. Not just now and then. That is why if and when I ever draw I am done.

Well for one thing the WDFW did screw your odds this year by putting the Margaret in the bull category instead of quality. The Toutle permit very likely was much harder to draw because of that. But I still think you're not drawing permits because you only apply for the most popular and hardest to draw hunts. I drew a deer permit in 2000, 2004, 2008, and now again in 2012. This year I did apply with a group, of which one group member had 20 points and the other had 12, bringing our average to 7 points. So that helped. But the Desert permit is about as hard to draw as a moose permit. Any way you look at it, it takes luck to draw a permit. Points don't guarantee anything, and that's what is GOOD about our system. Otherwise, new hunters would have no incentive to even get started in applying for special permits.

If people want to apply every year and not get drawn, let them.  Don't give them advice on how to get drawn.

HAts off to the WDFW, draw was turned around in 3 weeks, I am happy with that, just wish they had thrown me my goat tag.  Oh well. Congrats to all those who drew, its a great feeling for sure.
