New Black Cloud Close Range
« on: June 01, 2012, 01:19:15 PM »
New offering from Black Cloud contains 100% of the flighstopper pellets unlike their other shells that contain a mix of flightstopper and standard pellets.

Any thoughts on these?

My first reaction is: Why?

brilliant marketing idea...try and put a "premium" product out there for situations when even the cheapest 2 3/4" shells are more than enough medicine. :chuckle:

Why not make it?  Someone will just have to have some and others will just buy it to try it.  Salesman always like showing new product to their customers.  More money for them!

It doesn't make sense to me. Why buy a premium shell for close range shots when even the cheapest, slowest steel will work? I like the original black cloud but this just seems like an easy way for federal to make money. I don't fault them for it, but I won't be buying any.

Cause everyone finally figured out that when you have two types of shot, one round and the other this flightstopper stuff, with a raised ridge around it, past thirty yards or so it takes your shot string and stretches it out quite a bit.  I know I know some guys are gonna say they killed geese at 65 yards and they may have, but that flightstopper is going to lose velocity quicker than the other shot.  So now at least its more consistent maybe?  Not sure but thats my guess.
