I think in all calling contests the call sequence gets condensed to somewhere around the 10x to 20x the amount of calls you would hear in the real world for that time frame.  The panel is looking for accuracy in the elk calls as well as the callers range.

I agree that calling in a contest and calling to kill an elk are most of the time very different.  The shortened time frames are just to make sure that the panel and I can judge all the entries.

Will the majority be sending audio files or video files?

I'm wanting a workflow where no sound quality is lost.  I will be using soundcloud to host the audio files under my account.

I am in.  I can bugle and cow call well enough to bring in elk but not sure how I will do in this competition.  I was planning to send in an audio file.

You can use any audio recording device that works.  I figured most people would video it and then extract the audio.  Some people may not know how to do that , so I was going to write a short technical document explaining the workflow for both.

After talking with Corey and Paul, we will just run an open class.  However don't be discouraged as there will be door prizes just for entering.  This is for fun and I would like as many callers to participate as possible.
