well as stated im gettin a coon hound pup here probably within the next week or so.i got lucky because i went n spent all my funds gettin a bow here this month n so the lady is takin pitty on me n lettin me havem.im going to make it right by her of course.but i have about 6 billion questions in my head now.when i picked up the regs i could have sworn that i couldnt hunt with my hound in wa.is this the case?n if i can maybe you guys can give me some pointers on what i need to be doin to get him into huntin shape.man i think im more excited about gettin this pup than gettin my new bow.ive only had one dog that was ever that kind of dog that i could just never forget n will always miss n that was my basset hound.i know this is a whole dif breed of hound but i have a good feelin me n this guy are going to be best friends just like me n ol hank.anyways,as stated i dont know one lick of nuthin about workin a dog n id be real appreciative of some insight on the topic.guess its time for me to start diggin through this parta the forum.

wait until this time next year and send him to Bucknaze on here...he will get your dog dialed in for hunting bears!!!

Until then, work on leash training, basic commands, and find a hounddogger to take you hunting to whet your appetite!!  You're going to have a ball with that little hound!!

Congratulations!

You can coon hunt here in WA.  I HIGHLY recommend you buy Tom Solberg's book, "Dog Talk"  Awesome book on how to properly start a young coonhound.  Awesome book!

go on coondawgs.com! everything you need to know is on there if you spend the time to look for it, i too just got a hound my second one also but i didnt hunt the first one. he is now 4 months old and treeing cats(no i did not cage the cats they are my sisters and i take him outside without a lead alot) and coon drags. read the training project by LCK and i would also recomend getting a dvd(tree my pup is a great one)
