Early september goose season?
« on: August 07, 2008, 05:51:45 AM »
Is anyone else going to hunt the early september goose hunt this year?

This is the first year I'm going to give 'em hell in september. I'm usually bowhunting but this year it falls before early bow elk season so I thought we'd give it a shot. At least we don't have to identify the damn birds, we get to just bang away at honkers. Permit zone hunting is a pain in the ass, but you do what you got to do!

What are the requirements for the early goose hunt?  Special permits, licenses, ect.

Small game license, fed stamp and state validation is all, just the regular stuff to hunt waterfowl.

I locked up two of the best fields in Ellensburg a few seasons ago. Last year we HAMMERED them. Early goose is fun and easy. You hardly have to call and the birds decoy like a dream. It's gonna be nice, killing doves the first weekend in Sept., then smashing white cheeks the next weekend

Once I start getting my ducks down.  I should really start learning geese!

None of the fields around my hunting area are harvested yet. might have to try some gravel bars or something.

I got a buddy that hunts a corn field in Elma. Not a bad area for white cheeks
