Doe chasing coyote
« on: June 06, 2012, 06:38:12 AM »
Didn't get a chance to get any pictures, but on the way to work this morning as were were speeding along in the vanpool we watched a doe chase a coyote in field.  She was catching up to him as they were zigging and zagging.  About the time that we lost sight of them she'd caught up to the coyote.  It looked as if he was about to get his butt stomped.

Haven't seen any fawns yet.  It was in the middle of a field with no cover (except tall grass) but she could have been protecting a fawn.  :dunno:

"I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: 'I served in the United States Navy.'"

Seen that before with a mulie doe....we realized the coyote would let the doe get close and then bolt...they did this several times then we saw another coyote holding back and searching...I think one leads the doe off and the other goes after the fawn... :twocents:

I saw a doe chase a coyote 2 years ago during deer season.  Jumped a coyote in a clearcut and he took off into the reprod.  Next thing we know he comes running back out looking behind him and a big blacktail doe chasing him.  She chased him around for a minute then he pulled a quick loop up on to a ridge.  That's when he met a 165grain hornady interbond from a 300. WSM.  He should have just kept with the doe  :chuckle:  I saw the first blacktail fawn of the year 2 days ago so there are a couple around.
