Lightweight Sleeping Bag
« on: July 05, 2013, 12:47:04 PM »
Looking for some help everyone. Last year I bought a GoLite sleeping bag (mummy) that is super lightweight, high quality, and warm enough for what I'm looking to do.... (Temps ranging from 25-55 degrees). The only problem with the bag is that it is a Mummy bag, and I absolutely hate having my legs crammed together in a mummy bag. Now I am looking to replace that bag with something pretty much the exact same, but in a rectangle bag. I have had no luck finding anything that is Lightweight (backcountry packing), warm, and a rectangle bag. Looking to spend >$300 on something. Any ideas? Thanks

while its a mummy bag, alot of people rave about the montbell super spirals feeling much more roomy due the the way theyre sewn.

Ever considered getting a down quilt with a down jacket and just going that way?  Way less restrictive feeling.

Something like a kifaru woobie with a quality down top

Or going with a wide version of a mummy bag, ie a kifaru slick bag wide.

Lots of brands that make similar type versions of the above.

The Big Agnes sleeping bags are superlight and way less restrictive, look them up on any outdoor retailer, they might be the way to go!!

:yeah: I have a down Big Agnes bag because I can't stand the constricted feeling of the traditional mummy-shaped bag.  The Big Agnes has a wider toe-box than the traditional mummy, so it still allows movement in the bag, or has spare room for your boots if you need to keep them from freezing over on cold nights in the mountains.  Definitely check them out.

REI should carry their bags.

Look into the Western Mountaineering bags. They make a great product and have a bag that is a semi-rectangle.
