Help me put a fair price on my boat ??
« on: June 06, 2012, 11:03:14 PM »
I have too many boats so I am thinking of selling one of them and I am looking for input on what price I should put on it, The details are:

1992 14' Northwood with an electric start 25hp Evinrude Motor sat for the last couple years after I winterized it and today I charged the battery and it started right up, smoked like a *censored* at first but mellowed out, I think I have too much oil mixed in the gas !!

50lb thrust electric by Minnkota (I might keep the electric motor) that is only a couple years old.

It has storage up front under the seat (see photo), also has a live well for your catch and I just installed a brand new pump for it. also there is a place in the side to lock up your rods or any other thing that may fit, also has a brand new bilge pump that I will be installing tomorrow and I have 3 new seats on order that will be installed when they arrive.

There is a Humminbird fish locator on it, also an anchor winch you can control both the front anchor and the rear one from the drive seat.

It is wired for running lights and anchor light, I installed a couple amber lights (don't attract bugs) that light up the deck when its dark out and a Mr. Heater with a gas line ran to the front that connects to a pancake type 2gal propane canister fits under the seat in the front. (canister is not included)

The trailer is a roller type and is in really good condition and I installed a new winch last year.

I have used this in salt water a couple times bass fishing !!

Here are some photos that will give you an idea what it is !!

This is the live well

That's a sweet little set up! I'm curious what you come up with for an asking price. I'll keep an eye on the thread until you decide.

electronics mean nothing in re-sale value in a boat that size (unless its up-to-date-model year stuff)

older motor in excellent shape  = MAYBE 1000$.... in PERFECT shape.... an old engine ranges 500-800$.... an old engine... is an old engine....is an old engine......

solid hull = 2000$

good trailer = 1000$

used trolling motor = 200-250$

thats a 4500$ boat TOPS... in a full-on retail market in a perfect economy

if i were going to go check it out, id offer at 2500$...

just my  :twocents:

not trying to bash or anything, but its used aluminum boat with an old outboard and outdated electronics+ old trolling motor (old meaning not with in the last 3 years)

i had a 21 foot fiberglass cuddy cabin cruiser, heated cabin, 200 hours on the main, radar, radios, the works, ez-loader trailer.... i settled for 3500$......

super hard to sell a boat for what its worth............................. :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents:

gotta bite a bullet and take it where it hurts if you want it gone........ otherwise, hold onto it, and sell it when the market is in better condition :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents:

fyi, i flip boats as a hobby.

catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

I smoke two fish in the morning, I smoke two fish at night, I smoke two fish in de afternoon makes me feel alright

Boats that size and style are in high demand right now, at least on the east side. You'd get between $3k and $4k. personally, I'd hold out for $3500.

nice little setup there, could get some good fishin done in that boat. As far as price id have to agree with jeepster. $2500 seems reasonable. I would not pony up much more than that(if that much). Thats just me. :twocents:

Yes Sir, 20" it is !!

Thank You all for your input and suggestions, Chase 1 I don't know exactly when I'll be putting it up for sale, I guess it will depend on when the new seats come and I get them installed, whenever it is I'll post it here first for ya !!

don't let it go for less than 3500- it may be a bit used but boats hold there value and you have it ready to fish. When it is all set up and ready like that it makes a huge difference. I would suggest you take it to a few consignment places. They are in the business to sell boats and they want them to move so they can get their profit. I'm betting you'll see they would sell it for around 4k.

I would have to disagree with some of the $$ ranges put out. My guess would be $2500-$3000. I have been watching the market for a couple months as I have a 17.5' aluminum Tracker bass boat with a 40hp Merc, 55lb thrust bow mount Motorguide, raised carpeted casting decks, rod storage, tackle storage, livewell, 2 bank 20amp on-board Guest charger, 2 Lowrance fish finders (a 5" HDS and an 8" HDS with structure Scan) and I have seen similar boats to mine across the U.S. selling between $3500-$4000...

There is always a market for these type of boats, but there are a ton of "distressed sales" right now driving down the prices. If you don't HAVE to sell it hold out! If you need to sell it but don't NEED the money, slap a price on it and hang in there! :twocents:

Good luck to you! Too many boats is a nice problem to have!

If I were you I'd be looking for a trade of some sort, but I'm a barterer at heart.

I think the prices of around 3K+ are right in there.

I paid $3500.00 for an Alaskan Deep vee dang near the same as that and I thought that was a good deal. I would put 4000.00 or OBO and see how it goes.
Very nice boat You have there.
