Tons of bear in that area. Be careful, there are grizzly as well.

The doctor cleared me to go over the mountains.  My eyes are getting better every day.  We went scouting about 2 weeks ago.  90 + degrees over there, even up at 6,000 feet.  We saw some fresh moose tracks but did not see any moose.  This was expected considering how hot it was all week.  We did find a nice 4x4 mule deer and some whitetail does.  Also, a lot of bear scat on the road.  We found a lot of Huckeberries and picked enough for a few pies.

We found a lot of great looking moose country.  However, it was so hot that all animals must have been in the shade on the north side of the mountains down in some deep canyon with a cold creek running nearby.  There were a lot of grouse on the roads.  We did a little bit of fishing and caught some nice rainbow trout.

The best part was relaxing around the campfire at night with my wife and two sons.  An ocassional adult beverage around the camp fire after a great dinner was all that I needed!  Hopefully, I can get over and do some more scouting in September before the season starts on the first of October.

Weather report over there for the next 10 days is mid 80s during the day and upper 30s at night.  We probably will not even see a moose in that heat!

Selkirk Moose Down!!!

We just got back home late last night from our Selkirk Moose Hunt.

I filled my moose tag on Tuesday.

I need to unload the truck and get to the taxidermist.

I will send more photos and story later.
