I have hiked in there a bit and wouldn't waste my time. There are so many people that hike up there any deer would be scared off. The goats are quite used to people though. That October time frame is one of the most popular times for hikers to be in the Enchantments

Way too many people. Just drive to the parking lot on any weekend.

Yes, lots of people on any weekend, and plenty during the week too.  I think you need a permit for all camping before October 15th and the permits are not easy to get.  You'll likely need to apply in the spring to get the good weeks.

If you want to go to that area and avoid the crowds, try hiking in through the Rat Creek drainage.  Last time I checked there wasn't a formal trail, but rock climbers go up there occasionally (rarely).  Its not a trivial hike, but you'll be alone.

The Enchantments are closed to hunting.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

I can't find anything written about that area being closed.  Its definately in GMU 249, which is open.  Its public land too, but not a park.  Can you point us to something printed?

I've done a lot of research on hunting the ALW and have never heard the enchantments are closed to hunting. But like mentioned earlier you are supposed to get a permit to camp. There are a few places close to there that I would hunt. Especially during archery

To my knowledge it is not closed to hunting but if you plan on staying over night you will need a pass during archery season.. Which is not easy to do.  There are deer there  but I would reccomend getting a long way from the main trail.. One because all those tree huggers will bug the hell out of you and two the deer do not hang around to much.. Like someone said earlier There are some places around there that are great deer spots..
If its brown knock it down
