the post card tells the season dates valid for the permit and the hunt area.

Yeah ok, that makes sense. If the 2nd tag doesn't have that info printed on it then I can see why you would need to have the actual permit as well.

You need postcard.  Also, Gamie might think your are trying to pull something funny w/two tags (e.g., told them "I lost my tag" and got a replacement).  Happened to one of my buddies in MT.  He lost tag and went and got replacement.  But, the girl behind the counter was new and she printed two replacement tags.  He didn't look, just folded them up and put in his pocket.  Gamie stopped us and when he pulled out two tags for the officer to review, all four guys in camp were seperated into our own little corners and interviewed each of us individually to make sure the stories matched.  He also checked tagged deer already in camp, checked coolers, and asked to see bone pile for deer already in coolers (i.e., make sure there was no waste or extra deer in coolers), etc.  All in all, it was a couple hours of my life I can't get back due to new store clerk.  Luckily, town wasn't very far away and Gamie checked w/them the next day too.  We were good to continue hunting!

A couple days later, buddy shot a deer and it ran onto private property.  Called the Gamie and asked for assistance contacting owner.  He was nice as could be.  But, he sure was a "Hard A$$" when he thought we were up to something suspicious.

Not better safe then sorry.

It says on the card you must have this in your possesion while hunting (or something like that) and you have to have the tag and license to be legal.

Other notes that have been addressed.

Notes: You must purchase a second deer tag to participate in this hunt and only the second tag can be used in the second
deer permit hunt. The second tag must be the same weapon choice as your first tag. You may hunt only with the hunting
method in compliance with your tag.

Yes guys you need both. Or without it you will get a ticket!!! The card says the area's that you are allowed to hunt in and the dates. If you do not have it all it says is 2ND deer tag. There is area restrictions that only the permit shows and tells you are hunting in the right area should you be checked.

The post card is your permit to take a second deer ( doe ). Has area and dates, and MUST be on your person.

The tag you must purchase is your 2nd deer transport tag.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!
