Yeah, I was going to say, this thread is 2 years old.

Plus this is in the elk forum, so the number of deer hunters in 673 is not relevant.

The number of elk probably hasn't changed in the unit 673, but the way you hunt it surely will.  Just an FYI for anybody that camped on the state piece coming off the nemah mainline, this will not be available anymore via vehicle.  Still could walk in and put a spike camp in but will not have access to it by vehilce.  The Nemah mainline, and the Williams Creek mainline will be open for driving, but every side road off of these main roads will be locked up, dug out, or ecology blocked for all hunting seasons.  This surely will change the dynamic of this unit.

Last year I went down to Naselle and was into elk 3 out of the 4 days I was there. I was also on DNR land because of the high fire danger and still I was into elk and NO pressure!

It is kinda funny how old this thread is and we still give it some attention!! LOL

Has anyone had any experience hunting or sucess in the 673 Williams Creek area?  Mostly wondering about access, crowds etc..........
Actually there is not that much hunters according to the wdfw. http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/harvest/2011/reports/deer_gmu_all.php

those reports are only accurate if everyone answers truthfully  :twocents:

In my limited experience in the area, most hunters go to the same areas , where they see elk throughout the year (scouting)
Those places get 6-7 rigs parked at the gates, while other gates get little attention, and if someone does walk it, they dont go very far...
I see dramatic increase in activity in my areas as the season goes on, due to constant pressure on the herds that hang near the sloughs.
The only other guys I usually see are carrying spray-packs and speaking spanish..
.....Sure wish Hancock would lighten up on the defoiliant, makes the berries taste funny
:puke: they were even using a helicopter last season.  :bash: and the pilot would not tell me were he was seeing elk, said all he saw were deer, and there are not any deer there either...
