best advice i can give is DON'T do it solo!!!   :yike:

I agree dont do it solo....I hunted with my best friend in the watershed last year and you won't find a good area to kill an elk by yourself. It is an awesome hunt and anyone you can take with you would be lucky to see the country!

We actually hunted off horses couple of the days during season which made a world of difference...not an option for most but if you got friends with horses or have any yourself you'll be glad to have them by your second hour on those hillsides. And it's no joke about the staying out of the Shed until season starts they have couple guys that patrol it day and night and don't take any excuses for stepping foot across that trail line a minute early. I agree with the above post about throwing away your other tag you got drawn for, this hunt is one you will remember for the rest of your life regardless of the result. Good luck and post some pictures come Nov 5th

One word horses. It took me and my dad about 8 hours to get my elk back to camp. Last year it took them something like 14 hours to get one out and that was with a bunch of guys and horses.
