How common are bears?
« on: June 14, 2012, 12:41:08 PM »
Hey ya'll, I've been lurking for a year or so, first post though. All around newbie (Which explains the lack of info in my profile)

Anyway I just had a couple cams out in a new spot for just a week and one had 4-5 different bears (I think one was a repeat visit three days later) ranging from one pretty nice sized all the way down to one that would make a nice doormat (kidding). Is that fairly common? uncommon?

A few deer went by the same spot too, so I'm liking the area.

Thanks!

Here are the biggest and smallest, the rest were in between...

This was westside near Hwy 2, all went by in daylight hours between morning and mid-afternoon.

In reality I would say there are probably more bears on the west side than most folks think. I've spent a lot of time in a place we will call the game farm. It is now logged but during my time there I know of about 5 or 6 bears that called the area home. Had tons of pics and lots of video. Another member on the site almost had a shot at a big boy....we'll call him Big Fattie. He and I both had shots on another bear....we'll call him Little Fattie. I also had a shot at a nice bear with my bow...well, almost. 50 yards and to much brush.....needed  him to come in a bit closer. I think in a lot of areas they are there....just hard to pin down. Looks like you may have a productive spot already picked ou.
