Maps in general

I need advice on finding a good map. I purchased some property around Twisp thats supposed to be surrounded by DNR and Nat'l Forest land, as a matter of fact I have a 15' easement to allow "locals" access to DNR land. My Gazzett/Atlas doesn't show much and the Okanogan county map so loaded it's almost unreadable. How about these ad's in the Hunting pamphlet? Maybe I can just stumble around Cabella's. I don't have a computer {except at work} and I don't walk to well {just really slow}. I didn't get picked for a disabled permit this year, so I need to get investigating the surroundings of the new property. Find out whats public and what isn't. Any advice? Thanks in advance,

Go to the ranger station and get the district map....sometimes refered to as a fire map. They hands down are the best map for the money.
You can also us a gps with mapping software...most new software for gps's show boundries to state, dnr, blm, private and federal lands.
Good Luck.

You can start with getting a Public Lands Quadrangle map from the Washington State Dept. of Natural Resources. Depending on where exactly your property is, the Twisp quadrangle might be the one to get. This map shows different types of public land, but may not be completely up to date because of various land purchases. A more detailed way to get specific information on individual property owners would be to go on the Okanogan County website and click on Assessor. Then on Property Search. Then on Map Search. You should be able to find what you are looking for.
By the way, I have property outside of Twisp. Where's yours?

Easier to start out with GoHunt on WDFW website, hone in on your property and view public land. I usually order custom waterproof contour maps from MyTopo.com and then highlight the public and private land borders, GMU borders.

Bradslam, Russian Springs. I have another piece up Indian Dan Canyon. Lots of quail and coyotes on the State Land there. Took my wife and Mom camping 2 weekends ago to Russian Springs to look around and was woke up at 4;00 am by a bunch of Turkeys. There were some cliffs I could see in the distance that looked like they might have some chuckar and theres a lot more trees and brush around that looks like passable Grouse cover. being disabled, I'd never get a deer out of there, but I do like bird hunting......... AND the people around Twisp are just so nice. At least the ones I've met.

Thanks Smdave, I'll mess with this tomorrow. It's almost time to clock out. Sometimes the company computers filter things out, but I think thats mostly porn. Cool, now I have something to do tomorrow.

I use in no specific order....the go hunt interactive maps, GMU maps, green trails maps, DNR quadrangle maps and dnr green dot maps, gazetteer, old recreational maps, and the county assessors websites to get most current land ownership, oh and then I scout both on foot and with satellite mapping online, google earth, terra firma (or whatever it is)
I find there is no one map that actually shows all the information I need.

Just ordered my Colockum map from mytopo.com for $29.95. Waterproof, tear resistant, 36 x 48 inch map that encompasses all of Naneum and the only part of Quilomene I'd be likely to hunt in one custom map. Every map of every other area I have is still like new. Here's a link if anyone needs it:
http://www.mytopo.com/review.cfm?mytopoid=796129F934
Also ordered the SE corner, Grande Ronde 24 x 36 inch map for 14.95, also waterproof and tear resistant.
