*WARNING* Primos Products (esp Truth Cam 35 and 46)
« on: June 15, 2012, 08:23:59 AM »
Well, they went and made me angry, wont replace my 10 month old Primos Truth Cam 46.  I've had the same error on both a 35 and a 46 where it says "SD FULL" on the screen, the first time (a year ago) they replaced it and I was okay with their sub par product since they had good customer service.

This time they said if I didnt have the proof of purchase and hadn't sent in the warranty registration they wouldn't replace it unless i sent in $90.  90!  The whole camera was barely over $100 new!

So I told them I would inform everyone I knew about how crappy their customer service and products were.  If you have one of these cameras you will eventually get that error, it comes from using the camera as it is intended.  It WILL happen.  It has happened on 2 of 4 of mine and they aren't even out in the woods all that long.

Do not buy these products, buy anything else.  I bet even Moultrie has better customer service.

I have one of each, just got them about 6 months ago. The 46 was right at $100, on sale at Cabelas, and the 35 I got on sale for $60. Both are out in the woods right now, working fine as far as I know. Will be interesting to see how long they last. I read on another forum where a guy had that same error message you're getting, and he says he replaced the "card reader" and it now works, and it only cost $10. But that's all I know.

Funny I have 4 wildview cheap cameras and they work pretty damn good especially for the price... Cheep in the TECH are just means that your buying 1-2 year old technology, shouldn't necessarily be bad works manship.  :twocents:

Did you try erasing everything on your sd cards because some times they will have pictures on them even after you erase them off. put the sd card in and do a search on your computer and you'll be amazed at all the hidden pictures are on there.

I tried several cards, made sure they were all unlocked and empty, none worked.

I have had primos cams work.  About 1/2 when left out in the weather and rain will show up with that "SD FULL" and you'd assume its just the card, but you find its not full.  The same card in other machines will work, and in the broken one will show SD full.  If this hadn't been the second one with the problem along with a friend of mine who has had the exact same problem, I wouldn't be writing this.

They are just light duty, not meant for real outdoors during the winter months.  But, the real aggravating part is the customer service.  All I'm saying is if you are buying cheap cameras, buy cheaper than Primos, they'll last longer and you can get more for your money.

Stang.....I would like to apolgize. I can only assume that some of the images your cam may have captured of me were more than it could bear. So.....sorry about that. Sucks about your cam.

It's not like they don't know when that camera was built by the serial number   - a good company would make it right

Checked my Primos 35 today. Wasn't in a very good spot so didn't get many photos. But it's working! This is actually the first time I've had it in the woods, just set it up 2 1/2 weeks ago. I ended up moving it today to what I think will be a better location with more animals. But here are three pictures:

I sure do like how easy it is to program with just having a switch for every setting. And it's sure easy on the batteries too. The battery level is still at 99%.

This thread is great! I had the exact same experience last week.

It all started last year. I had a primos t/c 35 reading SD FUL. I did some research online and realized I wasn't the only one. So, I called primos and explained the situation. Reading SD FUL, 2 year old cam,  I have no receipt. They replied "no problem, send it in and we'll look at it." Three weeks later a brand new cam was in the mail. A couple of months later my friend had the same issue. I told him what to do and he received a new cam too. Only this time he also received a letter from Will Primos apologizing for the inconvenience. Wow, I was impressed, I even told people on this site to "buy primos cams, great customer service". What a joke and I feel like an ass now! Week before last I pulled my cams out of storage to get ready for the first scouting trip of the year. One T/C 35 would only record videos, no pics and another had the SD FUL reading, AGAIN! I opened another claim with primos last week and after many back and forth e-mails( I guess they didn't want to call me), I was told I had to show proof of purchase and/or that the cams were less that 13 months old or I could send in $70 for each camera for replacements.  What a crock!!!!!!! I replied and said "the cams were christmas presents from 2010, they are older than 13 month and I do not have a receipt. I would be a fool to spend anymore money on primos gear and I will be spreading the word on the disappointing customer service I received, especially since I had had one replaced last year.

The real kicker is I had already purchased 2 X-cams from cabela's, 1 day prior to this happening ( see other post in trail cameras). Needless to say I will be returning them. I just can't believe that this has happened to more than one person on this site. AHHHHHHH!!!!! It feels good to vent. Thanks for listening, now I can go to sleep easier. Anyway it seems as though primos has made a crappy product and has had to replace more cameras than anticipated. Due to there inconsistent customer service and consistently faulty trail cams, I will be making an extra effort to avoid all of their products in the future and I hope you will too.

also, don't lean them forward - they'll swamp with rainwater inside them

I lost a SD card due to water running down the back of the case.   I had it tipped forward off a post instead of just tied to a tree

I neglected to say that after I told them how crappy their products were and how I would tell everyone I knew and how they must realize they are producing crap and probably cant afford to fix them all... they decided to replace mine.

I'm still unhappy, it took 4 e-mails and me becoming a person I don't like.  I had given up and basically cussed the poor woman out before explaining that I realized it wasn't her fault but that their customer service used to be good and it was too bad their new policies were as crappy as their products.

On the return form she sent me to have me fill out it says to circle the reason for return... the options are:
1) No power on
2) SD Full
3) Rapid/False Trigger
4) Shuts Off
5) Image Quality

SO THEY KNOW IT IS AN ISSUE!

Seriously, their customer service used to be good, now it is garbage.  Do not buy their products I literally have had half of mine fail in under a year.
