2 stroke outboards?
« on: June 15, 2012, 05:45:25 PM »
I am getting ready to complete my military career and will be returning home to Washington, I am curious if there has been any legislation that restricts my 2 stroke outboard motor on lakes or the columbia while I have been gone? I have not been able to find anything in the WDFW website but that don't mean anything really.   :dunno:

Hey Oldcamper,

There are no two stroke rules on the salt, the Columbia, or any lakes that I have fished to date.  So far we have escaped that legislation.  Wouldn't surprise me if the no lead and no two stroke rules come in the next decade though.

I believe I heard that there were a few lakes that banned most 2 strokes but they couldn't ban the newer tech ones.

You can buy 2 strokes anywhere in Washington.
There are no bans as far as I know.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!

Thanks for the replies, I have a 2 stroke that works like new so don't want to buy one. I just didn't want to have to buy a new 4 stroke at the prices they run at.  :yike:

The Evinrude E Tec is the only 2 stroke that's being built right now I believe. Burns as clean or cleaner than the 4's.

I have not heard of any bans and plenty of boaters are still using 2 strokes  :twocents:
