West side clinics that carry the Snake vaccine??
« on: June 01, 2013, 09:38:56 PM »
For those of you that get the snake vaccine: What clinics on the West side ( preferably the North West side) Carry a Rattlesnake Vaccine or can order it at a reasonable price?

Im still hoping I can get it through my vet but I am not holding my breath that they can get it in a timely or affordable fashion.

You might just contact vets in the area that you are going to hunt in.

I was in NM where snake bites are common and my GWHP was bit behind the front shoulder, the vet just gave him massive doses of Benadryl, Remidryl  and another anti-inflamitory.  I understand facial bites can be worse
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Chuckanut Valley Vet Clinic in Burlington carries it. Also, the vet clinic in Sedro-Woolley just east of the railroad tressel that crosses Highway 20 (I think it might be called Highline) carries it also.

A freind of mine who hunts exclusively in snake country in montana, who also has a vet there,he  calls the vet there and has  the doses shipped to him for pre hunting season dosing(does them himself),He told me the doses are 15 dollars per dog. This fellow is awesome, Retired full bird col from the army,80+ years old and full of fire with 3 VERY VERY well trained pointers that would put most field trial dogs to shame. He hunts for a month straight on sharpies. His hunting partner had one get bit that was vaccinated for it,the dog spent the night  at vets for observation and was then hunted the next day.
