Modern Deer Medicine
« on: June 16, 2012, 05:28:45 PM »
After nine long weeks of waiting, my 6.8SPC upper has finally arrived!  Stag Arms 7H, spec II chamber 1:11 twist.  A new scope, a mount, some range time, and I'm good to go for fall.  Fudds beware!   :yike:

Will sit nicely upon my home-built Aeroprecision lower...

Good deal, I really like that upper I just finished one with the new stag 3g upper. Now that is a sick upper! I don't have a scope yet so I have not shot it but a couple times to test the rifle after the buid. It sure feels nice!!! I am sure you will be happy with yours.

I'm thinking I may have to put the Vortex red dot on it, and shoot it single shot, just to put some rounds through it.  I forgot I still need to get a 6.8 magazine.

Thanks.  But I really am looking for a smaller mag.  Probably 10 rounds.  Since I handload, I need to try & find one that allows a longer COAL.  i'm busy packing for a weeklong RV trip right now and just too busy tonight to do any shopping!

You aren't getting any mag that's going to give you more than the standard overall length of right around 2.260 on a AR 15 platform. If its weight your concerned about load 10 in the 25 rounder and call it good.

There are actually mags designed for the 6.8 that stretch that length out to 2.32".  See this thread...

http://68forums.com/forums/showthread.php?20990-Mag-mag-mag-%28or-is-it-nag-nag-nag%29  (Hey, it's only 55 pages or so of light reading!)

68fourms.com has a wealth of info on the 6.8SPC...

It really isn't going to matter until you decide what bullet your going to shoot and the overall length to the ogive, ogive placement on the bullet differ greatly from one manufacturer to another.
