A couple of nights ago, there was a thumping on our picture window. When I looked out, I could see a large silk moth. I tried to catch him for some photos, but he disappeared in the wind.
This afternoon my wife came out to the shop with another one in a jar. She caught it on the inside of our back door. Pretty cool bug, a Ceonothus Silk Moth.

I expect silk robe by the end of the week!!
They come around every summer. Just leave the light on for them, they will be there in the moring. If the birds don't find them first
, somethime there will be just a pair of wings on the ground when you look outside.

That's a monster, I don't know if I've seen one of those. I took a relatively crappy shot of a Lorquin's Admiral yesterday, trying for a better one but with this nice "June-uary" were having I don't know if I'll pull it off this month.

Seen one on my back porch a couple days ago in the am trying to get inside when the door was opened.... It found the fish pond....
Thought the damn thing was a bird at first!!!
Don't they prefer drier climates then the wetside???
