Just wondering if an atypical buck will develop similar antlers from year to year...
Thanks!!

Good question!  I about blew up trying to call a Canadian Radio Variety show on what what was a "Non-typical" WT years ago.   They didn't have a clue what non-typical meant.  Thinking 4x5 was it...  They also called Okanogon  Auk-anoggin :chuckle:

Seriously I always thought it was a dietary issue... :dunno:

It was always my understanding that deer start to degenerate with age thus causing antlers to start to become non-typical.

I think I remember hearing that genetics, food, and injuries all play a part in antler growth.  Seems like I remember one of the eastmans talking about this one year.  I don't think they are always a non-typical.  I think it can vary.

:yeah:

I think genetics and injury are the 2 big ones. Ive seen sheds from the same buck multiple years in a row with drop tines which would mean genetic. Same with palmated antlers. I think if the pedicle sp? gets injured it can be non typical for multiple years as well. If it is in velvet they can injure them and be "non typical" but thats just gonna be for that year  :twocents:

Great info - thanks!
Now I know to keep my eye out for that amazing non-typical buck I saw last summer ... only a glimpse, so I might have been hallucinating, but ...  :chuckle:
