Ya had a better day than that fawn did. Now, to extract revenge for the little guy come season.

Sounds like a good time, glad you ended up ok.
It was a great time! Might seem strange to some of ya, but it was the best time i've had since shooting my deer last season. Major adrenalin rush.

I bought my can of bear spray this spring. They say it's way more effective than a hand gun on a charging bear. Plus you don't have to kill one you otherwise wouldn't. Cool story, I'm glad you are ok
I am going to buy some bear spray for next weekend, and finally buy a side arm as soon as I have the doe.
Get him back during bear season.
Hopefully get a shot at him in August with a bow.

WOW scary!

Dont by a 9mm unless you are going to use it on yourself when attacked..I saw first hand what a glock 9mm with 15 rounds fired at a head on bear at 10 yards..we pulled bullets out of hide and some that went in maybe 2" max

Glad you werent on the 5 oclock news   I personally use a 357 mag, carry a bottle of bear spray and keep a knife on my weak side of the body for that last resort type of thing.  Better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it :twocents:

I always go light as possible. I screwed my back up 8yrs ago, and I dont want to be in that boat again.( had back surgery on June 4th-- was drawn for any Bull in the Quilemene archery a week or so later.)
I grew up in the area(Skyvally), and spend more time up there than anyone to my knowledge. That was the first time that I actually felt like I was in trouble in the 30+ years that I have hunted, fished, scouted, and ran around out there. So I will definately be buying bear spray, and later some kinda hand gun. Something that doesnt weigh to much.
 Just a great close call.

Just wondering, will hornet/wasp spray do the same thing as the bear spray? :dunno:

I thought that I read that at sometime on here. Think they said it works just as well, but alot cheaper because it doesn't have the "BEAR" name. :dunno:
Hate to find out the hard way though :chuckle:

bear spray is proven to work

show me where wasp spray has worked?

I know I've gotten wasp spray all over my face before and felt nothing, why would it work on a bear?

Yea I am a little dissapointed in myself that I didn't figure out what was going on a little sooner  I have never actually heard a fawn bleet. As soon as I saw the clump of hair I new something was not right.
Carry bear spray next time until you get your hands on a good weapon,  carry bear spray anyways might be times the bear is too close but doesn't warrant shooting.

would be a good place to call this september, you are getting a bear tag no?
Yea I will be bear hunting    Bear spray would have been nice, I agree.

If you look at the stats, bear spray works better than a gun anyway.  :hello:
