Price quote please.
« on: June 23, 2012, 11:12:08 AM »
So I drew the goose prairie archery elk tag and the wife gave me the go ahead for a shoulder mount if I shoot a good bull. My question is what should I expect to pay? By the way I live in lake Stevens. Thanks for the help.

There are many good taxi's on this site. I would go to the taxi areas and look at their websites. Most will have info on pricing.

I charge $950 + tax. I'm just up the hill from Naches so I'm not far from the Goose Prairie unit. I also have family in Marysville and travel over there a couple times a year to visit and pick up/deliver mounts. Good luck on your hunt. I spent 13 days on a backpack archery hunt there last year and saw some great bulls.

Do not go off price alone!!....do some looking go visit some shops ask to see pictures of the taxidermists work or set appointment to see their work. If you end up getting an elk and having out mounted you will want someone who knows what they are doing..... I have seen to many people go "cheapest" and hate the mount. Very few individuals realize what a quality mount looks like all they see are the antlers. So choose wisely and you'll have something you'll enjoy looking at for many years.

If you live in Lake Stevens, check out Moro Taxidermy.  They have done a lot of deer, elk, bear, ducks etc. for me and my buddies.  I'm not that familiar w/lake Stevens, but they are located at that little private airstrip where people just drive their planes down the streets and into the garage.

:yeah:
I am sure you have waited awhile for the tag, will spend a ton of time scouting as well as tons of energy on the hunt and hopefully killing a nice bull, don't short yourself by saving a couple hundred dollars on a mount that you will look at for the next 20 years.  Over 20 years you saved yourself $10 a year to not be happy with the bull of your lifetime.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

My buddies shoulder mount ran him about $1,200 and nearly two years at the taxi shop.  A great mount though.  Check out a few places and see how they do invest into a good one.
Cut em!
