Lost my lab today
«

A huge part of me died today with the loss of our lab Chloe She was 11 years old and was the most sensitive dog I have ever known. I've had dogs put down before but never have I experienced this kind of pain before. I know it will get easier as each day passes. Thanks for listening to a broken heart weep.

Wow. Tough day and time ahead for sure. Been there. Still hurting about our beloved dog three years ago. We also get smiles remembering my little buddy each day. You will always have your memories!

putting one down is never easy......makes a grown man cry. Sorry for your loss. I am not looking forward to having to put my old girl down.....she is 13, but seems to be great. I know she is getting me back for all the things I made her do to get a few birds. Sorry for your loss but remember all the good times you had with her.

That's the worst. When we put our dog down a year ago, for the first few days, I wondered if it was even worth having such an awesome companion knowing full well that they leave you so soon. Then I realized that a couple sad weeks was more than worth the 10+ years of happiness they give you. It isn't even a question at all.
I'm sorry for your loss. Just remember how much better your life is for having that dog in it.

youch
sucks, makes me wonder why we do it, when we know in just a few short years how bad it's going to suck.....
then the puppy comes and off we go again
I know someone who's going to have some pups in about 59 days
found his two pure bred labs stuck together due to his boy leaving the door open. One is yellow, the other black, the black came from a chocolate/yellow paring so he could have some yellow/black/chocolate pups

Sorry, Soon I will be in the same boat. My girl is 13 and failing. She can't hear, some days she is unsteady. Taking three pills twice a day. My wife has set me down more than once since April about putting her down, but I just can't get there yet.
She's my first lab. I trained her myself and she was a better dog than I ever deserved.

I'm so sorry for your loss
. I dread the day I lose my pup and she's only 8 months old. But like stated above, the years spent are worth the loss, I'm sure your pup is in a better place

I lost my dog of 16 years last month and its tough. No one really knows what's its like until it happens to them. It truly is like losing a family member. I feel for you.

That is truely one of the toughest things to deal with. They become family and are loyal to the core. When you have a bad day they make it better. When you get home they are the first to say hello. When you wake up they are right there.
they are angels on our hips and they keep peace in our soul. I feel your pain as i have lost a couple and they will never be forgotten.

Sorry for the loss. I'm sure it's not easy. Just remember all the happy times you had together, I'm sure they outweigh all the socks and shoes they tore through in their younger years.
As many others have stated, I too fear having to do the same thing in the coming years.

That is a great pic and a beautiful puppy. Maybe you could look into have a portait style painting done. Hang it up in a place where you will see it and be able to keep the memories close. As many have said....I'm sorry for the loss, it is a sad thing when part of the family is called up.

Thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers. Today is going to be a rough one. We picked Chloe up at the vet early this morning and laid her to rest. We are going to pour a small concrete marker with her name on it. I know thing will get better with each passing day.
