We used to have some pretty hardcore waterfowlers on here, but they got kind of in a tiff I think.  Not sure whose left.

with whatever comittee you come up with you should have a duck call competition. would be good for a get together as well. judge on feeding chatter, comeback call, you know all the general calls.

If someone else would want to set that up in a completely different thread, that would be fine.  With everyone spread all over the state, and pretty much every weekend for me is going to be spent in the field, I probably won't compete unless it's in vancouver.  Good idea, but tough to accomplish.

My idea...  worth .02 or less :P
Everyone is invited to participate.  Doesnt matter where you live.
The contest runs for 6 weeks with 6 days of entries.
You can enter any days hunt but you must enter it within 2 days of the hunt.  i.e. a saturday needs to be entered on a monday.  Just so you can't pick your six entries at the end of 6 weeks.  an honor system which may be a  :bdid: but who knows...
How the scoring would be set up is under revision but my general idea..
+1 for any duck
+7 points for a limit of ducks.
+2 if its all drakes
+1 for a drake pintail
+3 for a Eurasian Widgeon Drake
+1 for 7 greenheads
+3 for 7 drakes of same species other than mallards
+3 for a BWT or Cin. Teal
+3 for limit of bluebills

-1 for spoonies
-1 for hen pintail

I am up for many/any additions to this as i am tired and sure i am leaving out obvious stuff...

Yeah a coyote contest would be a lot of fun.  I'll work on something in a seperate thread.  I like the idea of the admin versus the forum.  We would probably get wiped out, but it would be fun.  Of course we are going to award 100 points for shooting a coyote with traditional archery equipment versus 5 points for a rifle kill.  You guys have my brain going now.  I think I'll have something in the next couple of weeks.   :whoo:

Right now Coastaljay is setting up some sort of spreadsheet with his own rankings of birds and point values.  I'm also considering including geese.

Seriously??  You need to get out more, they are rare but not that rare, the oregon boys stumble on those every so often and there are always some killed up here in WA, and as far as American Widgeon go I could have had countless day with a limit of them last year!

Last year i spotted eurasian widgeon countless times in a pond late in the season by the vancouver mutual brick yard. SpencerUSMC is right also on the American widgeon! last year we would be hunting and out of no where there would be 25 to 30 widgeon booming into our spread and they were easy pickin too.

I dont know about you guys but the Euro Widgeon very very rare...I am out quite a bit and have never seen one...But then again I hunt farm fields and not around the bays where most of the widgeons seem to be concentrated....Also on the list it says +1 for any duck then -1 for spoonies...How would this come out..Just wondering???
