Does anyone know the current archery typical Mulie record for WA? A buddy of a coworker arrowed what they believe to be a contender for the new state record on Monday. It's a 6X6 and grossed green @ 203 1/4.
We have been trying to find out but F&G said they don't keep a record, B&C and P&Y want you to buy the record book.
Sorry, I do not have pics and I'm not going to say where it was arrowed but my co worker has lots of pics and it is a toad!!! 33" wide.
-
You better get some pictures up here soon or you're going to have an angry mob!
Any velvet left on it?
-
:yike:
-
Bring on the Pic's! Was his hornes rubbed off yet?? Tell your friend congrats!
-
I heard about that as well. Gobble you better post those pics ASAP or else. :mgun: Zillah isn't that far away from Ellensburg.
-
That would make better sense. I heard of a 230 33inch wide one that just got dumped out on the firing center. (I wonder if it was the same deer).
-
Yes! it was hard horn and I'll be getting pics emailed so I can post them.
-
That's the one I heard about as well Bone. Heard it was 220" though.

Funny how fast fish stories spread.

and grow

I figured it was stretching a bit with a 230 typical score. Course I guess some folks measure in gross and not net, but in reference to the state record, again Net should be used I suppose. I heard it was a dandy and I am upset because thats one I won't get to film. LOL

i seen the pic of a phone text and its a pig.

NW BIGGAME RECORD BOOKS:
Washington - Mule Deer, Typical (Archery) [maps]
1. 171 3/8 Chelan County 1994
2. 167 3/8 Ferry County 1992
3. 165 7/8 Okanogan County 1973
4. 162 6/8 Chelan County 1987
5. 161 1/8 Kittitas County 1988
6. 154 7/8 Columbia County 2000
7. 154 2/8 Chelan County 1984
7. 154 2/8 Whitman County 1998
9. 153 5/8 Grant County 1997
10. 150 4/8 Franklin County 1996
-
They know net is what counts for the books that is why they are wanting to know for the shrinkage factor.
-
I think there are a couple Franklin pigs that aren't on that list. *censored*S are going to bump me a notch lower. J/K I need to step up my game.
-
What's your biggest archery buck Bone?
-
1. 171 3/8 Chelan County 1994
Am I reading that right? The state record is only 171 3/8? If that is correct then this pig isn't going to shrink 30" and its a new record. They thought it was somewhere around 197+.
-
I don't think those numbers are right, unless my memory has gone to crap. Ok it has gone to crap because I can't remember what mine scores. I was thinking 178 3/8. He grossed 193. and I was like 3rd for a long time.
-
The typical record was 189" net for years. In '01 or '02 a 202" net buck was arrowed in Franklin.
-
i don't think i would ever rely on anything that the nw big game record book says mainly because i don't think enough people enter into it.
that is, however, a copy and paste directly from the site.

Thanks all back to work for me. I'll post pics when I get them.
-
I think you are right JJ. Its right at or above the 200 inch mark. A muzzel buck and an archery buck were both hammered there at about the same time, or back to back archery bucks maybe even.
-
i seen the pic of a phone text and its a pig.
I just got the pic on my phone as well. I don't think it's 220". I think someone mentioned 197.

You are right Bone, two big typicals. Both top 5 all time for respective weapons. One archery, one muzzy! Pretty cool! We also have the #3 all time typical for any weapon - old timer out of Chelan. HOG 218" and change net!

If you guys have the pic on your phone just post it online!

its already posted on other sites.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE PERMISSION TO POST IT THEN DON'T
out of respect for the hunter.
:twocents:
some people don't want their face pasted all over the WWW.
Isnt that why God invented PhotoShop?? :chuckle: Dont care about seeing the hunter's mug shot, just the goods!! ;)
-
i put the pic up...if it's already online elsewhere, i don't see the harm in it being here.

Wow that cell phone pic did not do it justice.
-
Wow, what a buck!
-
Its going to be close. Thats a 200 inch buck. WOW. I am only mad because now I won't get to photograph it. DANG!
-
Looks like the extra points are just stickers that will add character but not hurt the score much. Wow, not too many of those in Washington.
-
That is the buck.
-
That thing is a monster. I would love to see that thing even outside of hunting season.
-
WOW, what an incredible buck, it will be hard to surpass that.
-
The story I got was that a younger kid jumped the buck and it ran within 30 yards of this guy and beded down.
-
WOW!!!!
There is a reason I have put in for that hunt all these years.......
Congrats to the hunter!!!!!!
-
the state record is 204 net. from franklin co. in 04' i think.
that thing is awesome!!!
-
It has been rumored where it was taken but not confirmed and I'm not going to confirm where. I can say it was shot in its bed and had no clue he was even there. He has been after this buck for at least 3 years when he first missed it.
-
Thats cool that hes been on it for three years. I heard he got the buck in okanogan county somewhere.
-
Wow! Great buck! Gotta love one that carries his mass the whole way! Definate gross 200+ from that pic!
-
Buck of a lifetime for sure.
I think its funny that we cant confirm where he got it.
I heard he got it at NW Trek........just after he fed it a hot dog. :P
-
I talked to the YTC officer about that buck yesterday. He said that guy logged in out there 30 times this summer for scouting.
:dunno:
-
makes a guy feel pretty good to be living that close to a world class deer. I saw a shed from year before last that was probably from him. It had the same giant fronts and a "weaker" back. That is just too cool.
-
Great! He is gonna make my 180" look small.
Nice buck, sounds like a great guy. Congrats to him.
-
wow nice deer.
-
Wow :yike: Congrads to the hunter and thanks for sharing
-
Sure thats not a Mexico buck :chuckle: Thats a pig!!
-
Wow. Awesome Buck!!! Can't wait to hear where he actually got him. Someone said the Okanogan.. Would love to have the genes of that thing running around even in the same county I hunt!!!
-
Sure thats not a Mexico buck :chuckle: Thats a pig!!
Definitley looks more Eastern Plains of Colorado-ish. Come on Buck, you are a taxidermist, you should know these things! :chuckle:
-
What a hog!!! Congrats to him on a very nice buck!!!
-

he's runnin in the country I hunt ;)
-
OK, I'll be the first to say it. No way that buck goes anywhere near 200"!
JK, that buck has it all! Long mains, deep fronts, width and mass! Awesome buck!

Read through the post again. It says multiple times on here where it was shot. Was not the Okanagan. Here's a hint. The place starts with a "Yakima" and ends with a "Training Center." :chuckle:
-
Good Lord...you sure thats not Sonora :o
-
Nice buck. Looks like a desert buck to me. Nice to know WA can produce one every now and again...
-
I measured a 200 1/8" NT (clean typical frame with double drops) that was killed last year. They are around...
-
Great, theres gonna be as many people applying for this unit now as there is the desert. :bash: :)
-
Note to self...apply for YTC next year! ;)
-
:chuckle:
-
I'll be the second to say I don't see 200" net
Awesome buck nonethless
-
That would make better sense. I heard of a 230 33inch wide one that just got dumped out on the firing center. (I wonder if it was the same deer).
I might have a chance to see this buck in person tonight!!!

WOW!!! I'm very jealous of that gentleman! Biggest I've seen in this state!
-
I saw a picture of this deer or his evil twin about 4 weeks ago I guess. I got registered yesterday to go out and photograph him. Guess I am a little late. LOL
-
By the way, the YTC is going to be annilated thanks to the WDFW. There are 50 some modern tags for the rut hunt.
-
I will be out there with 1 of the 50. ;)

thanks for posting the photo jackelope.....super buck....
-
What a sissy buck. :chuckle:
Washington still has some great opportunities.................Problem is you will be in a wheelchair eating mush by the time you draw a tag :dunno:
Congrat's to the hunter.... what an awesome accomplishment.
-
Nice buck. Looks like a desert buck to me. Nice to know WA can produce one every now and again...
Ditto that!
-
I had a feeling that something like this would happen out there this year. Congrats to the hunter.
-
Ok I have seen the buck in person. He nets 199 and grosses 209 :hello:
-
really? I talked to the shooter of the buck today and he told me net was 204 and change. g4 on the right side is over 16 inches long 31.5inch spread and 25 inch main beams
-

Well this is what the guy who scored the buck said when he scored it just a few hours ago. But he said he usually is about 1-2 inches below what most official scorers get on average.
-
Maybe instead of a tape, they should check that deer with a geiger counter? :dunno:
-
I dont know what to think about the numbers on this buck :dunno: too much difference. Amazing buck of a lifetime though, all I have to say is good job to whomever harvested the animal! 8)
-
Maybe instead of a tape, they should check that deer with a geiger counter? :dunno:
It wasn't taken on the Hanford Reservation. ;)
-
If I see something that big, I'll have to shoot it in self defence. Of course that would be after I s&^t my pants.
-
Its good to see people are still willing to take management bucks!!!!!! Its good to weed out those little bucks!!! Just kidding that thing is a hog!!! Any of us wouldn't think twice so give credit where it is do!!!
-
WOW thats a monster!
-
MY GAWD what a buck!!!!! Congrats to the shooter. Love to see those come out of this state...
-
Who gives a rats you know what about a score??? :P great buck no matter where you are ... Congrats to the hunter

It migrated? :chuckle:
-
I hope it hits 200 in the end. It has almost the exact look as mine right down to the curling mains, large fronts and that damn weak back. He has a little more on every count though. Mine grossed 193 but had that extra damn point and not matching eyeguards. Mine had a little more outside, but I bet he has more inside. Out of any buck I have seen lately, I actually think this one has a shot at 200 net. I know it doesn't matter as that buck is King no matter what, but it would be cool for him and the hunter if it met that magic mark.
-
Ditto that!

I didn't see anywhere in the thread before I posted, that said Yakima Training Center.. ??But someone had said Okanogan.. I could have overlooked it or it was in a link I didn't open but don't think so. But thanks for the correction.
-
what a pig! congrats to the hunter!
-
I adjusted the pic a bit to get a better look at the rack. Congrats to the hunter, that is fantastic buck.
-
That's a stud buck!! Congrats to the hunter
-
Nice job great buck.
-
His backs look bigger in person than in the pic. And I heard the hunter has an elk tag for the same area   .
-
I talked to the YTC officer about that buck yesterday. He said that guy logged in out there 30 times this summer for scouting.
Sorry Kimber I was just being sarcastic. It was shot in the Yakima Training Center. Some will be pissed becuase I spilled the beans. But who cares it's not like it's not already public knowledge. It's not like when they interview him that info isn't going to come out.
-
There's more info on this guy at muledeercountry.com. Looks like he just going to make the 200" mark. And will be number two in the books
-
If its really that close he may drop under that mark after the 90 day wait.
-
The only thing that could help that mammoth rack would have been to have a few spruce in the area. ;)
-

Some dark color would make that monster look even better.

No problem. I figured as much.. I just wasn't familiar with what "YTC" stood for. The whereabouts will come out so who cares if you said it.

Update 9-10-2009
Unofficial gross green score is 209 1/8 inches with 8 7/8 inches if deductions. This gives it an unofficial net green score of 200 1/8 inches, putting him number two in Washington. He is 31 1/2 inches wide, with great mass al the way out to the tips. This is a beautiful buck. Congrats mark, thanks for the update!

That is an awsome mulie. Congrats to the hunter!!
-
yep beautiful buck...... ;)
-
dandy buck i like hoe i just found this
-
Mark had it on display at the Yakima Sportsmans Show two weeks ago. He won several awards for it in the horn & antler competition. Not sure of the final scoring somewhere around 193" after drying but it did stretch out another 1/2" for an official 32" wide. Mark said he is wishing now that he had gone with a full body mount and not the shoulder.
-
Still puts him #2 and a stud of a buck regardless

Nice little buck. There's even a few of us Mo's down here in Utah that might take that buck providin he ain't to far off the road.

He had it caped out for a full body when I saw it.
-
That would have been a perfect candidate for a lifesize too. They just dont get much bigger than that for a typical archery buck. Man thats a stud buck.
-
I disagree. I think that full body mounts of deer always make them look small. Let's face it, a deer is not an elk. They just aren't that big of an animal. Most people, (especially those that don't hunt) will stand next to a deer and say "Geez, they're not that big, are they?". On the other hand, a head and shoulder mount of a thick necked, rutted up buck, hanging above eye level on a wall gives the illusion of a larger animal. :twocents:
Flame on :chuckle:
-
Pathfinder101 The Buck is a early archery deer, NOT a rutted up deer. Probably short sleek hair a shoulder mount of a August or early Sept Deer sometimes can look even smaller, almost like African animals. Summer weight skinny Deer with shorthair and 32 effin inches would look AMAZING, people would say :yike: HOLY CRAP look at those antlers :twocents:.

I agree, a full body buck with a 32" spread would have some serious WOW factor.. :o

I would of just sawed the horns off and threw them in the stack :chuckle:
