Title: Looking to Rent/Borrow Canvas/Wall Tent
Post by: Wolf in the Mountains on September 26, 2020, 08:22:48 PM
A couple friends of mine and I have hunted an area in the past and braved the cold in a generic camping tent. This time around, we're trying to find a canvas/wall tent that we can borrow. We've talked to people we know with no luck yet, and I figured I might as well see if there's a fella on here generous enough to lease/lend his out!

I always borrow things from anybody, friend or stranger, with a break it, pay for it policy. If someone is willing to let their's be used by some other hunters, please shoot me a pm so I can get you my cell number.

Thank you (:

I did a WTB add earlier this summer and scored on a 12x14 Montana canvas that needed a few holes patched. And no m not offering it, Iíll be using it all fall.🤣

You never know what people want to sell.🤔

Ran across this today and considered adding another to my fleet however, donít need more as of now. Figured Iíd pass it on. Just buy a tent, even if you have to split it with buddies you wonít regret it. Iíve had my tent from the wall tent shop in Moscow for quite a few years and it pays of the first cold night with the stove.  :twocents:

That seems like a good deal dale. You could resell after the season and probably get all your money back too

Buying is the way to go. I bought mine 15 years ago and have no regrets.

Absolutely. I really considered it For myself but thereís no way I could sell that one to the wife. I bought another tent last fall and told her I was gonna sell it only to turn around and have another door put in and some other alterations to make it a cook shack. But hey weíre gonna be hunting in style now.

I donít want to be Debbie Downer, I hope you find a tent.

But finding someone to barrow one from will be tough. You would have better luck asking a wall tenter to use his wife, or hunting dog. For me and many others we dreamed of our wall tents for years before getting one. We let you come along and sleep in it. But drive off with it, not going to happen.
Canvas wall tents are like sacred hunting partners, the longer you have it and use it the more stories it has to tell. I have two. Each one has its own log book of adventures.

Barrow a canvas wall tent? Makes me shutter. :chuckle:

Good luck. Buy the one above seems like good price.

You can buy a poly 10x20' car port from Costco for around $200. They work great for a wall tent if you don't need a stove and put down a couple of tarps.

I have several lesser type older canvas wall tents. Not the classic walls/roof/front/back type posted, but they are definitely much more stout and skookum than a camping tent. I'm negotiable and all under $200. Good place to start. I know I have 2, I might have as many as 4.

I'll find a pic of one, and edit or add another comment... so you'll know what I'm talking about.

For someone who wants a wall tent without the wait, those look like screaming deals. I usually camp alone for elk season and bring my own wall tent. Itís quite a luxury item for one guy but, might as well be comfortable, warm, dry clothes, cooking space, organized.

Maybe Bravo or The Wall Ten Shop have stock that you can go and pick up instead of waiting for shipping.

Yup, you summed up pretty much what I expected to hear. We just were a little late to this wall tent hunt plan (had to cancel high buck because of smoke/fires). I didn't want to be in the market to buy one with the mentality of "I need to buy one asap so the first one that pops up I'm buying". A desperate buyer isn't a smart or picky one. So I figured I'd shoot my shot on here.
But, if I had a wall tent and a dude wanted to borrow it, I'd have a hard hard time letting it go.
