Post by: boneaddict on August 16, 2010, 08:09:22 AM
THIS THREAD IS FOR FOLKS LOOKING FOR WORK AND/OR FOLKS LOOKING TO HIRE OR THAT KNOW OF JOB OPENINGS. NOT A THREAD FOR POSTING HOW THE JOB MARKET STINKS OR THE STATE OF THE ECONOMY.
If you are looking for work, post a brief description of what you do and your location.

All other info sharing should be taken off the boards into private phone calls or private messages.

Thank you for all of your participation!
All topics that were over a month old have been archived to help with forum performance.    If looking for it, search same title of thread with archive added to the subject line.    Please refresh anything current.  Again, thanks for making this successful!

We need all the guys we can get to do O-1 electrical work. We have a hard time manning work. We’ll train you, and the school will give you the hand tools. The contractor will provide power tools. You’d start as an apprentice and have to do 8 hrs of school 1 day a week, every other quarter for 5 yrs. The other 4 days a week during school quarters, and 5 days a week during non school quarters you’d be working at least 40hrs/wk, likely more. You’d get an annuity, pension, 401k, and healthcare (including dental and vision). Proving very difficult to find people who are reliable, not afraid to work, and mechanically inclined. 95% of commercial and industrial electric is mechanical in nature. People anymore seem a generation removed from having any trade skills. Show up on time every day, work hard, use your hands, pay attention, and learn a skill. Veterans get preference.

Now the part everyone cares about.

1st period apprentice makes $21.24
2nd period (after 1,000hrs) $23.77
3rd period $26.30 (after 2,000 hrs, finish 1st yr school, and skill cert)
4th period $32.87 (after 3,500 hrs, finish 2nd yr school, and skill cert)
5th period $37.93 (after 5,000 hrs, finish 3rd yr school, and skill cert)
6th period $42.98 (after 7,500 hrs, finish 4th yr school, and skill cert)
Journeyman $50.57 (finish 5th yr of school, meet state requirements for O-1 electrical license, which are 8,000hrs OJT, you’ll have educational requirements, and pass the state exam [4hr National electrical code and state laws test]).

I have a few openings in eastern WA.

First is a mostly seasonal position during the summer months (April through September/October) in the Yakima/Snoqualmie Pass area.  Looking for qualified individuals with highway construction experience.  This is an inspector position so inspection experience preferred but not absolutely necessary based on experience.  Please PM me for more information.  Compensation based on experience but is typically better than prevailing.

Second is for personal work in the Wenatchee Valley.  I am looking for someone who can do some work on our property, mostly general labor but carpentry skills or plumbing skills would be a plus.  This can be during the week or a side job for someone on the weekends.

Thanks

:yeah: I am a business owner as well.  Have to deal with employment.  I don't mean to cast a negative on this thread as it is a great thread but I cant help but comment on something.  Reading through some of this is mind blowing.  Is this what it has come too?  Do employers need my life story?  Pysch eval?  Life story?  It just seems to be a daunting experience for young people.  Going through applications it has become clear to me as an employer that the people with training how to fill out a proper resume have an advantage.  They learn how to use the proper words and phrase things in an enlightening way.  To call themselves technicians and specialists. ETC.  Yet I have learned to discard many of those and pay attention to the honest people without skills/training in computers/resumes.  I look to those with real world experience and articulation in their field of experiences.  My point is to those who fit this, like me, dont change or give up hope.  Many people respect real world straight forward people.  Happy hunting and good luck.

Putting a feeler out for crew for the 2019 Alaska salmon trolling season.  Generally runs June 20-Sept 30, but dates negotiable. Possibility to stay on through mid-October for the spot prawn season.  Great summer job for 18+ year olds (insurance won't let me hire non-family members under age).  This is a gig that women and men are both good at, as it requires mental toughness over physical strength.

Nice boat, good catch history, good earning potential.  The experience of making a living producing the finest seafood available in and around the glacial fjords of Southeast Alaska is unlike anything else.

PM's work best. I will be longlining for a short period of time but will get back to everybody as soon as I can.

Not really sure what I'm looking for.... But I'm just going to keep it real.
31/m Worked for 5 years at a wild and forage food distribution center / retailer. Was floor manager for 2 years. Quality control, checking in and recieving product, general maintenance (warehouse upkeep, lights, plumping, small building etc) Kind of a tinkerer.  I do have a criminal background but it was one conviction over 10 years ago and literally have only had a few speeding tickets since then.
I know beggars cant be choosers but I very much am gonna do so. I don't want random oddball jobs just to fill a quick buck - Id love something long-term that can I devote my time into. Naturally with me my whole life is like that. My focus becomes an obsession at perfect, and I either fail or succeed.
I have great common sense and the ability to learn quickly. I've been pretty much an open book over the last few years so don't be afraid to pry.
I'm not looking for handouts, or free rides. Just need a sense of purpose.
Preferably not a 2+ hour drive one way 5 days a week.
I'm located in Yelm/Eatonville area.
Willing to travel about an hour one way. ''

Honestly terrified of change and getting into a whole new line of work, but TBH electrical is something Ive always been interested in but lack any type of real knowledge on the subject. Possible Electrical Apprentice?
Not really sure what I want to do, just know Im not getting any younger.

I just saw a sample test. I think it’s to see if you can do the math, but it was pretty rigorous algebraic.

I used to have boolean algebra down like a science. That was when I got my GED over 10 years ago though. Now I cant even fricken remember multiplication tables.
Im sure it would be fairly ok to pick right back up but math in general sucks.

What struck me was all the unit cancellation via fractions. Hadn’t seen that since Chem 182

Need a reliable hand to help with some boatyard work in Everett this weekend, plus Monday and Tuesday if you've got time. Primarily sanding and painting.   All PPE provided.
$20/hr cash.  Could be good for $400+ this weekend, double that if you roll with me through Tuesday.

Send me a pm if you, or you know someone, who might be interested.

Pic attached of last year's victim helper. He's still alive, and would be here helping except he's got a full time job now.
So basically, helping out in the boatyard = path to career goals.  :chuckle:

The weight's actually supported by solid wood blocks under the keel that she's balanced on, the stands just keep her from tipping over.

Looking for work. Sales, management, developing efficient systems, writing detailed manuals, overnight FedEx expert, credit procedures and collection. Extremely self-motivated and organized. I've been at my present company for 13 years doing whatever the boss has needed me to handle for him. They call me the fixer and the enforcer. The company has recently come under new management and is restructuring, my position(s) included. I'd like to find a company that needs a loyal problem solver and hard worker. I can generate a resume on request.

Are there any interior designers here for my creative agency?

I'm finally throwing a few bucks at my office and need some design consultation. I have about 80% or more figured out and sourced, know what I want but need someone with the know how to help me over the finish line. Overall, I'd say this is a lightweight project for someone in the biz...  NW, woods, hunting, outdoors feel (shocker), etc.

I don't imagine more than a handful of hours but would appreciate the collaboration. I'd be willing to trade hunting & fishing stuff of all shapes & sizes or cold hard cash against agreed scope & details. I have a few options to pursue outside of this forum but would prefer to give the business to a HuntWA member if possible.

My office is in the Belltown area. Ready to start when the right person is found.

Questions? PM me.

My cook for the last 15 plus years has had a family emergency and just informed me she can't make it up this summer.

The job is from June 14th to August 31st in a very remote sport fishing camp in Alaska.  Have to be able to get up early every morning start coffee, cook breakfast then dinner in the evenings. Meals are simple but good. Looking for someone that is very organized and clean and not afraid to work every day. Lots of time to yourself during the day to relax or do a little fishing around camp or in evenings with the guides.

The camp is a large Weatherport camp with hot and cold running water, solar for electricity with backup generator, phones, no internet, carpeted floors and full propane kitchen with two ovens.

Our family has been operating camps all over Alaska for almost forty years, so you will be comfortable and safe.

PM me for more info or send resume to duncan@elltel.net. You can check out our website at www.alaskaflyfishingcamps.com. The job opportunity is at our Lower River Base Camp on the Kanektok River in Western Alaska.

Within the next year I am seriously considering relocating to the dry side from the graham area, I would like to relocate to the Wenatchee area, well actually anywhere from Ellensburg to Yakima, but my girlfriend and I really like Wenatchee and the surrounding areas. What I was wondering is what type of work is there around there for a guy who is a journey diesel mechanic by trade, but right now I do a lot of millwright type work where I’m employed right now. I rebuild all types of pumps gearboxes and do the alignments on all of them. So I am a little versatile as far as mechanical work is concerned. Also another question, what are the schools like over there........ we will be doing some more research of course before things are set in place, but any info in those areas would be EXTREMELY APPRECIATED!!!! If you guys would like you can PM me or reply to my email....,, ieatelk22@gmail.com......

Well after working with the same company for over 25 years, in comes a new service director and his "team" I am no longer employed at that place  :bash: :bash: :bash:. I am looking for work of pretty much anything I am capable of doing. I am a GM certified Master tech (need a couple of course to get back to 100% in all categories), I was a shop foreman for 10+ years handling all the heat/return repairs and for the last 6 years have been a service manager over a team of 40+ people. I had all my certifications for Subaru but have not went to the new model updates so not much left on them I am also a ASE Master technician. I can run most equipment around a shop and around a farm. I run backhoes on the weekend for a friend and grew up on a farm so know my way around most equipment. Here is the bad news, I really do not want to work in a flat rate shop. I done it for years and it is a young mans game. I am open to and honestly would seriously entertain switching fields for the right opportunity. I live in Chehalis but have worked in Longview for the last 25+years. I work hard and will show up everyday for work.

For folks in the aviation community and in Eastern WA, there is a temporary opportunity in Moses Lake as noted below.

737 program staffing up support for MAX operations in eastern Washington

Program increasing temporary staffing support in Moses Lake

To ensure stored 737 MAX airplanes are properly cared for and maintained during the pause in deliveries, the program is increasing temporary staffing support in Moses Lake, Washington.

The temporary staff also will eventually assist in the pre-delivery process once the airplane is certified by regulators to safely return to service.

Staffing at the eastern Washington site includes 737 teammates who volunteered for the temporary assignment. The company also will hire outside the company for temporary positions to be based there. Boeing will recruit for avionics technicians, aircraft mechanics, airframe and powerplant mechanics, and aircraft electricians.

The 737 MAX fleet has been grounded and deliveries paused since March. Commercial Airplanes has continued producing 737s at a rate of 42 airplanes per month, and they are being stored at several locations until deliveries resume. Locations include the Seattle Delivery Center; Everett, Washington; Boeing San Antonio; and Moses Lake.

The 737 program expects to have a few hundred temporary positions in Moses Lake to support activities at that site.

looking to hire a basic truck driver at the Rainier State School in Buckley.  This is a State job so you will need to apply at http://careers.wa.gov/.  Basic duties are delivering supplies on campus.  No CDL required just a valid WDL.
The posting expires in about a week. Read the posting as days off are Tuesday/Wednesday.  It doesn't pay a lot but it is a full time job with benefits. Every year you work your salary will go up until you are topped out. Working for the State you accrue 8 hours of sick leave per month 8 hours of vacation.  The longer you work the more vacation you accrue.  I've worked for the State for 20 years and am accruing 16 hours of vacation a month plus 8 hours of sick leave per month.  You also get paid for 11 days of Holidays/year along with 2 paid personal days.  You also get a pension for the amount of years you have worked.  Say you work 30 years you will get that x2 so you get 60% of your highest 5 years of salary...you work 30 years at 4k/year and your pension will be 60% of 4K which is $2,400 a month retirement.  Plus you have the option of a 401K and deferred Comp that you put in for addition to your pension.  Apply online and if you do send me a pm and I will take a closer look at your app.  If you click on the link search for Truck Driver and you will see the posting at DSHS Rainier School

thanks

These jobs are hiring during the coronavirus crisis in Washington

SEATTLE — Americans are facing layoffs and unemployment in mass numbers — and Washington workers have been hit hard. It's a stressful and growing consequence of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Washington Unemployment Security Department (which is among those hiring) has an unprecedented number of new requests for assistance.

Essential services allowed to continue are those most likely to seek additional employees during the coronavirus pandemic due to increased demand. Those include but are not limited to healthcare workers, grocery services, and marijuana growers and stores.

Possibly looking to add 2 more people to my team. Supply and demand, plus recent events has left us short handed..

Job is pretty brainless.
Tamping and preparing pre-roll joints/material and order fulfillment.
We average 3000 joints a day and roughly 35k a month.
You would be working for a tier 3 cannabis facility which is one of the largest.
Starting wage I believe is 13.50$ with benefits upon finishing probationary period. Located in Rochester.

Personally looking for people with initiative and a good work ethic, the job - is easy. Just mind numbing.

Shoot me a message if your potentially interested.
We are essential

Eastern WA company looking to hire seasonal worker for federal projects.  Taking application/resume for trail builders, laborers, and carpenters helpers for work beginning in mid May/June. Pay is prevailing wage. Must be physically in shape.  An example of the shape you need to be in is a project we did last year in Oregon. Everyday we had to 3.5 miles into the trail bridge we were building. So we were hiking 7 miles round trip a day plus working all day at the site. Currently we have a trail building project in the Colville NF, 2 small trail bridges to build in Oregon, and one trail bridge to finish in CA (about 1-2 weeks left on that project).  We work with helicopter companies with flying material & trail bridges into sites, so those days are exciting.
This work is great for college students or 18-19 yr olds just starting out.  Possibly the work can turn into full time.  If you like the forest, don’t mind traveling & staying all week in a RV or camping than email dave@ridge2river.co

Any mortgage brokers out there? I'm starting class tomorrow for my NMLS certification/mortgage loan officer and should have my certification within a few weeks. I've sold mortgages before and was good at it. But, I was doing it as part of a multi-level marketing scheme and couldn't make a living without recruiting others to do the same for me. I learned that lesson!

If you have a brokerage or know of one in SW WA who's looking, please message me. Thanks all.

Looking for a quality, hardworking, DEPENDABLE person to work unloading propane rail cars at a terminal in Arlington. Good, stable, long term opportunity for the right person.

Typical work week is M-F 6-2 or 7-3, but the right person needs to be EXTREMELY flexible in this schedule, especially during the winter months, as propane is crazy busy between November-March. You could easily work 50-60hrs a week during these months.

A great work ethic, basic computer skills, and communication skills are an absolute must! Must have basic mechanical abilities, nothing in depth, just some basic knowledge of the workings of pumps and motors, etc.

Pm me here, if you are interested. Job to be filled by April 1st. We aren't in a rush, would rather find the right person for the job, as opposed to a warm body to fill the seat.

Prior propane experience is not necessary, will train the right applicant.

Title: Alaska fly-fishing guide needed
Post by: Pinetar on April 22, 2021, 04:18:51 PM
Dave Duncan & Sons has been operating remote wilderness camps in Alaska for 40 years.

We are looking for a fishing guide from June 1st to September 1st, 2021. Mostly fly-fishing, if you have rowing experience or driving tiller handled skiffs in rivers it would be great but if you are the kind of person that can be trained, we can train you. Must be a hard worker, willing to work long hours and enjoy being in a wilderness setting living on the river for three months with no TV or WiFi :chuckle:

Please send resume or email to duncan@elltel.net. You can PM me but we will be out of the country fishing until May 2nd.

Looking for a potential partner to fish 6-7 weeks in Cook Inlet gill netting Reds. My son just got work for Alaska Transport so he won't be available for me. I have a comfortable safe 37 footer, but also have shore accommodations to live. This isn't Bristol Bay we will fish around 15 periods and in between, keep things dialed in and do some sport fishing for Halibut when time allows. What I need is someone who get's along, can move around the boat comfortably, some boat savy would be nice, and most importantly will stick it out until the end. I'm going up around June 20 and will be home by August 10. If someone sticks it out I'll pay most expenses, a percentage of the catch, probably around 15%, and send you home with a box of Halibut and Salmon. We will have a great time and honestly with our last few seasons in mind a deckhand will make somewhere from 3-6k. If you know someone have them PM me and we can talk to see if its a good fit and go into more detail about what to expect during the season. Thanks Tom F/V Borealis

Title: Looking for work/Looking to hire - Local Accounting Firm
Post by: jstrickc on June 18, 2021, 09:38:57 AM
My company, a local, mid-sized accounting firm, with two locations, is currently looking for at least two new staff members. We need an Assurance Senior with 3-7 years assurance experience and a Tax Senior with the same experience levels. Ideally these folks would be willing to work locally but for the right person we would look at remote options. We would also be interested in a tax person with less experience as well.

I've been here four years, it's a great company, the pay and benefits are competitive, and they are flexible and accommodating with the ability to work in either of the offices or remotely.

Also looking to hire reliable carpenters and construction superintendent for commercial work in Yakima area. Competitive pay and benefits package DOE, good work environment and friendly crew. Occasional travel within 1-2hrs. is possible but not the norm. We are not a pump-and-dump company, we pride ourselves on our low employee turnover rate and year-round employment, and many of our guys have been here for 15+ years. 509-895-9071
