Schnee's Timberline vs Beartooth
« on: July 14, 2021, 07:57:57 AM »
Trying to decide between these two, has anyone tried both? I've had my eye on a pair for a while but wanted to see how my Irish Setter Elk Tracker's worked out long term. Blisters on my feet from this weekend say: not well. Too bad because they're pretty comfy on the jobsite.

Or if anyone has gone from Irish Setters to one or the other, how do they compare stiffness wise? Kind of want to go with the more flexible Timberline but don't want to end up with ankle issues...

I haven't tried the Timberlines but the Beartooths aren't that stiff. I personally can't see needing even more flexibilty but I tend to like a stiffer boot, the Beartooths are my most flexible and what I wear for late season, very comfy out of the box if they fit your foot correctly.   :twocents:

I have the Beartooths and absolutely love them.  After 5 years I still say to myself....."man, I love these boots." when I put them on.

Wishing I liked them more. These soles are stiff! Feel like I’m walking around in snowboard boots. Got a couple sizes so I may use them to decide which size is best then order some timberlines for comparison…also wondering if stiffness is more pronounced in small sizes. Or maybe I just don’t know how great stiffer boots are in steep terrain. Did Colchuck / Aasgard pass in my Irish setters recently and can’t really say if stiffer boots would have helped. Bottom line: opening weekend of bear season may be tough on the feet
