I had zero points after drawing last year and just moved and won’t have the time to hunt this fall so I didn’t put in and figured on buying a point.

Regretting not at least trying now, sure I could have made it work one way or another. Congrats to all the winners and good luck to those who haven’t checked yet.

I didn’t put in either since a trip to Italy in June is planned, now seeing results makes me wish I tried.  Next year should have 4 or 5 for a general elk tag.

Going back to Wyoming for a cow hunt.  Hope it turns out better than last year.  New area to explore.

Struck out on both the West General with 4 points and also a normally easy cow/calf draw. :bash:

Got just what I planned on getting and hoped for. I put the three of us in for the regular draw in units that were out of our reach with our 13 points. I then put us in for cow permits outside of Evanston where I hunt deer on my buddies ranch. Season runs from Aug 15-Jan 31. I have access to around 16,000 private acres there and the elk come in from Utah in late November and winter on his ranch. I wasn't willing to blow my 13 points on a bull tag this year there (It would have been a guaranteed draw) until I get the intel from the cow hunt we will be doing this late fall. I want to see size and quality of the bulls and how broken up they are in November thru January. The limited entry bull hunt there goes from late November thru the Jan 31. Will be fun seeing what we find and what are intel turns up. My buddy that owns the ranch is getting his range and hay eaten badly by all of the wintering elk. so we shall see!
