Bow fishing guides
« on: March 22, 2021, 03:53:51 PM »
I've asked this question several times before, without much luck.

Do you know of any reputable bow fishing guides that operate on either the west, or east side of Washington?

I've got my own gear, a little experience, but looking to have some instruction from someone in the know.

Thanks for the help.........Gibby

I guide some years but haven’t been lately.
If I get a license and do it this year I’ll let you know.

I'd be down as well, been out twice on a boat not set up for it and not really knowing what I was doing and haven't killed one yet.

Best dates for bow fishing

Best? When it gets warm and they are sitting on the surface (lilly pads) with their back (hence, the nickname ‘Grayback’) out of the water and holding still. In Lake Wa I will toss an anchor upwind, drift way back into them, shoot, pull in some line, let it drift back again, usually off to one side or the other, and get two or three more shots, and do it again.
They are recommended ‘no eat’ out of Lake Wa, so you are feeding the turtles. I eat them out of the clean lakes. They are quite good smoked.
Cuterebra are NOT cute!
