One of the main reasons that I went back to wool, merino, for base layers, is the STINK of synthetic.  I smell a lot better after a few days when wearing merino base layers, and that is good when I can't put clean clothes on every day.  Also I think that it is warmer.

Synthetic also retains odors.  Once it's been stunk you might as well throw it away.  Not so with wool.

The shirt in my avatar is a Prana Yoga long sleeve wool tee.  Not sure they expected it to be used in this manner.
