I started off hunting Muleys then Blacktails and now I'm hooked on whitetails. I've killed all three types but I have been hunting whitetails for the last 20 years or so. I just can't stop.  :chuckle:

This is one of the biggest whitetails I've killed. The Muleys and Blacktails are pre dig. camera days.

wetside blacktails have pissed me off and wasted my time so far.. So im going to say Texas whitetails which is where Ill be and what Ill be after next year and every year thereafter! Ill be sitting in a permanent ground blind on private property and not trying to climb steep clearcuts and trudge through the thick stuff. I will just have to avoid prickly pears, mesquite thorns, and rattlers!

We had one of these polls in the last month. Mule Deer won by a long shot.

Saw a muley while flying over some farming towns east of yakima. Almost thought it was a juvenile elk at first. Didn't realize how big they got compared to the blacktails!

I would have to say Blacktail ...I have killed all three species in Washington. I love deer hunting no matter what species I am hunting but something about blacktail thats get in your blood and I just like it more ..Definately is the tougher of the three to get ...If your lookin for a big one ,,, Nothen cooler than seeing a whopper Blacktail standing there in a little foggy clearcut on a little misty day  :chuckle: :dunno:

I would choose muleys mostly because of the terrain to hunt them in and I just love how majestic they look.  I have not hunted for a whitetail (have a late hunt tag this year) but hunting in the lowlands just isn't as exciting as being in the mountains.  Blacktails are what I hunt after being unsucessful getting a muley.

Gotta be the mystique of the Blacktails for me. I love still hunting through the ferns and having such close encounters. Being in the woods with bow in hand during that last week October is what I'm looking forward to.

Don't fool yourself on that one. We've killed big whitetails up over 4000 ft. elev.

I will say that some of those big Blacktails....are really big.

:yeah: I have seen a very good population at 5500 feet. I have hunted all three, and I chose whitetails. There are quite a few of them so I can always be seeing action, and they actually are scared of me unlike a muley  :chuckle: Muley would be my last choice  :P
