Who has harvested bear during a modern deer hunt?
« on: September 26, 2012, 10:54:04 AM »
I'm interested in knowing who on this board has harvested a bear during a modern dear hunt.  I'm putting this on the bear forum and probably should be putting it on the deer but...oh well.  I haven't harvested a bear yet but always pick up a tag just in case.  Would like to do some bear only scouting/hunting but due to schedule...deer have taken priority.

Interested in all your thoughts on the subject...thanks!

My first bear was during modern firearm for deer (she was eating maggots off an old coug kill, you can see the deer leg on the ground if you look close). Havent looked back since! Love bear hunting~!
While I havent seen many during modern firearm, I would still pick up a tag.....

If you can go out, now is the time. Black berries are everywhere and bears are packing on the pounds.

Good luck this season.

Took one..  Passed on others during deer seasons over the years.

I have not yet, but the area I hunt for deer has bear scat every 100 yards or so on the logging roads, so I am going to get a bear tag this year and if I happen to see a bear it's  :cue:

I shot one during elk season about 3-4 yrs ago.  It looked identical to the one eating maggots in previous post...I probably wouldn't have shot it but my son was with me and he said shoot it dad shoot it! what can a guy do?  :chuckle:

Actually I think 80% of bear taken are from another big game season. Most don't go "bear" hunting like us here

Where I was... (east side) There was a bear taken on opening morning of deer season only a mile or so from where I was.
