License fees?
« on: October 17, 2012, 11:30:24 AM »
Not sure the exact amount I paid to hunt ducks but I believe it came out to 70 bucks.  No big deal for me but making conversation at work and they asked about the price causing me to get laughed out of the room?!  :dunno:  Do you guys get that treatment as well?  Just bugging the #$%* out of me.  :sry:

eh, every once in a while but i just point out the cost of buying a duck or goose meal, or even the raw meat, and equate that to the total amount i can bring in over a season.....basic math will tell ya i win every time  :twocents:

They arent factoring in a single aspect of the experience. Watching the sun rise from a beautiful vantage, the camaraderie, the thrill of the hunt, the time spent outdoors and away from the worthless BS in life. They are in fact the ones paying much much more.
The deer are exactly where you find them, and no where you dont!

Just ask them what they do for fun and laugh at them when they spend their money on Golf! Don't get me wrong I played golf for 25 years and now a pay play for my hunting and fishing habit!! But ask them how many golf balls they loose in the water and how much they pay to play and not get any thing out of it like an Elk, Deer, Ducks, Geese ect. You can pick at any one that has a favorite pass time, but when it comes to making memories with friends, family, like it was said it's price less.

I don't mind it. I hope the money for the fairly new waterfowl authorization is going back into waterfowl and not wolves, however. It's one thing if the cost of maintaining our waterfowl is going up. It's another if all of our increased tags are going towards programs that work against us. Does anyone know if the extra funds are earmarked?

Two does are walking out of a deer bar; one doe turns to the other and says, “I can’t believe that I blew 35 bucks in there”.

Herpes?  I bet that could flush a room instead.  :o

Every thing is way up and puts a pinch on every one.  As I left to go work I explained joking along, adults have their own ways to spend and save money.

I hate to pull out the adult card on adults but I was getting a little P.O.  Oh well.

Personally if someone was giving me *censored* about how much hunting licenses and tags cost, I wold probably respond with something along the lines of "Well when you start buying them for me your opinion on it will count for something."  :tung:

Realistically how much enjoyment time-wise do you get out of it? Days? Weeks? Plus the food if successful, memories sometimes even when not. We all complain about the cost of licenses and tags, myself included, but really it's only paid once per year and how many other hobbies could you get into that would give the same amount of reward to cost ratio?  :dunno:

Atrox, I agree. Who cares what someone else thinks about my favorite past time. I'd bet $5 the guys he was talking to spend tons of money on NASCAR or $10K spinny wheels for their truck, or the worst waste of all, ugly hookers. We get to hear those wing beats, shoot a western that falls out of the sky like a freakin' lawn chair. Get a double on some teal. Pepper the ass of a coyote. See a little kid's face light up the first time he/she dumps a green head. Re-take the goose test for shooting a dusky. Doh!  :bash: :bash: I'd rather be killin'!

:yeah:
Doesn't bother me one bit. It has always brought a smile to my face whether I tag out or harvest nothing at all. Can't wait to start buying licenses for my kids once they are old enough.  :IBCOOL:
fear no fish!!
