Hen Pintail, Has anyone seen this before?
« on: January 14, 2013, 06:27:48 PM »
When I opened up this hen to breast her out I found these white worm like things. Is this Fat?, a Parasite? Something else I may not have thought of?

It's called Rice Breast (Sarcocystis).  Yes, it is a parasite.  You can supposedly eat them when thoroughly cooked.  I never have been able to do that though.

I have shot probably a dozen birds with this over the last 5 years.  It is a parasite as mentioned.  I won't eat one as I am not willing to be the guinea pig.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
